I am high-maintenance when it comes to my hair. I wish I could say otherwise but, it's true. I have trouble finding the right adjectives to describe the shade of color I want and almost always, what I think I see in the mirror is usually not the best way to describe my hair. Enter Samantha, owner and hair magician at For Love and Hair. Samantha always knows what it is that I am trying to describe and masterfully narrates what she is going to do before she does it. I end up immediately relieved and relaxed before she even brushes out my long hair in order to apply color. Her color technique is incredible. She is honest about what is doable given the state of my hair when I sit in her chair, and has a true artist's eye for what best matches my skin tone and face shapeThe depth, richness and vibrant shades of honey, blonde and warmth she creates is truly beautiful. She is up front about pricing and is always willing to break down our plan into multiple hair sessions if that's what my budget calls for in a given month. Sam is 100% willing to color and highlight my hair the way I describe but nowadays, I just sit back and let her color, tone, highlight and cut my hair with HER version of the look I am going for; her way is always better and the compliments I get are a testament to her craft. She has a kind, easy-going personality and is a consummate professional!

To be clear, Samantha is not merely a "hairstylist." She's really a MAGICIAN. I first met her at another salon and instantly fell in love with her work. I have very straight Asian hair that resists most cuts and styles. She managed to transform it into a bouncy, flowy style! What's most important was that she LISTENED to what I wanted and made logical and informative suggestions based on me. Fast forward seven (7) or so months where I wanted to refresh my look. Samantha is now in her new STUDIO - For Love and Hair. A week or so prior to the appointment, I sent her pictures of what I wanted and she was very positive and helpful. When I saw her, she made color suggestions based on my request to have my color highlighted. I told her I didn't want obvious blond streaks and more of something subtle and natural. She whisked together the right color and made it happen! On top of that, she gave me the best hairstyle. I told her that I wanted a look where I can just wash and wear, as my hair is straight in the natural state. The layers she put in my hair are so pretty and buoyant! That weekend, I had to see her again because I was off to a gala and I told her I wanted big and noticeable curls in my hair. Wow - she delivered yet AGAIN! I got so many compliments on my hair that night. On top of that, the curls and style lasted the entire six (6) or so hours of the party. Her studio is so intimate and lovely. She really made it so that you're relaxing and relinquishing the stresses of life and just sinking into a warm and friendly place. I absolutely loved being there and enjoying the privacy of my hair time. I parked on Ventura Blvd and metered my car. She's more than happy to run out and feed the meter for you. Super cheap. Last but not least, there's Samantha herself. If EVER there was a kinder, sweeter, gentler, and lovelier person, it would definitely be Samantha. I've had a few cuts here and there and believe me when I say she's a PRO. She really can make any style happen on any hair type. She's honestly one of the nicest people I know. She has ZERO bravado and ZERO attitude. She's ALL solid gold inside and out. I can't recommend her highly enough. She'll be my stylist for LIFE!

She always uses the best products that don't ruin the integrity of your hair. She knows me better then I do. I bring her pictures and she gives me honest opinions. I would not trust anyone else! I came to Samantha when I decided to finally trust someone after almost 6 years of it not being touched. And I couldn't have picked a better person to do it for me! After I cancelled my appointment super last minute because my son was sick Samantha was totally understanding and rescheduled me which was amazing. I wanted a big change, but was scared of doing anything too drastic. She made me feel completely comfortable and helped me decide on the look I really wanted, and explained each step so well. I walked out feeling more confident then ever with a transformation better then I could have asked for! Can't wait for my next appointment!
