I went to see a stylist who I had seen once before. She had fixed a cut and color that was originally done by one of her coworkers. I really enjoyed the cut that she did, so I decided to book with her when I was ready for another haircut months later. I showed her a picture of myself with the original cut that she did a few months prior. I again explained what I was looking for in a cut--same details as before--but it had been awhile and I don't expect her to remember.
I noticed that as soon as I mentioned I had lightened my own hair, her demeanor completely changed. She remained professional, but it was clearly forced. I was not there for color (or judgement), only a cut.
Once she was "done" with the cut, she began to put some waves in it. I was a little surprised she considered the cut finished since she hadn't shown me the back at all and in the front the "slightly heavier curtain bang" I had asked for was pretty thin and was not blended into the rest of the hair on one side. Definitely disconnected and not blended into the length at all. She did address this somewhat when I said something.
I had to ask her if I could see the back. The back was interesting. I did say that I did not want a straight across blunt cut (same as last time) and we both agreed on a more beveled look across the back. However, toward the bottom, the top layer of hair seemed to be cut basically straight across and the layers underneath were unevenly chopped into leaving about a 1/2 in. choppy and hanging that really shouldn't be there. When I asked about the back looking so choppy she told me "honestly it's probably due to breakage"... obviously she said this because I lightened my own hair (with 20 volume for 30-35 min on uncompromised hair, I also use Olaplex--THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO BREAKAGE). I showed her a pic of the back of my hair on my phone that indicated that--no breakage of any kind whatsoever. She said "well how long ago was that picture taken?" I explained it was from two days prior. She then assured me that the look of the bottom back portion of my hair was now because she dried my hair straight for cutting purposes and if it were round brushed when blow drying (which I always do) it would not look that way. Against my gut feeling, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, only to come home and find that was not the case.
When I paid for my service, I was asked if I wanted to reschedule. I said not at this time and paid the bill w/ tip per usual. After I got home, I noticed an email from the salon sent at 12:00 noon (my appointment was at 12:15) confirming my next appointment for August 20th? I was rebooked before I even showed up for my appointment. I understand salons typically have metrics to meet for product sales, rebooking, etc. but I found that to be very odd.
Best hair experience I've ever had. Very relaxing and client oriented environment. I went in not totally sure about what I wanted and left feeling the best I ever have about my hair. Lizzie is so talented I'd trust her to do my hair with her eyes closed.
I paid $51 for a terrible haircut. I'm giving it 2 stars because the stylist was so friendly. She was super nice to talk to but definitely shouldn't be charging $51 for her cuts. I don't mind paying over $50 for a haircut but it has to be good. I saw a review on here recommending her.
