Fitger's Salon and Spa in Duluth, MN

Found this place while shopping in the area & went back to do some research. I called the next day to see if I could get in. Whoever answered the phone was really short on the phone & didn't care to help to book anything. This is not a good reflection on the company as a whole. She would just say no we don't have anything on the days I inquired on. Didn't offer to look for any upcoming appointments or offer when they would have an opening, didn't offer to get added to a cancellation list, nothing. She just ended the conversation with sorry about that, & hung up. I currently fly back & forth to another state to get my hair done. I was trying to find a place here in MN. This has turned me off & will never consider this place nor recommend.

How come I can't get my hair done the correct way for a decent price? I mean $200 for a highlight?

I showed up on time for my appointment. I Was greeted kindly at the front desk and right away was offered a beverage of coffee, tea or water. I had the peppermint tea. They served it to me 4 minutes later, and then my assigned stylist greeted me minutes later. I was on time for my appointment and I was able to be seen pretty quick. The salon is clean, stylish and modern. My hair dresser was Mary, an experienced hair dresser for many years, very pleasant. She was professional and wasn't pushing for extra services. I felt relaxed and no pressure to tell my whole life story during our hair appointment. It was nice to relax and not feel pressured to converse. My highlights were good, nothing extraordinary, she did an amazing job and a nice trim also. Would definitely recommend this place. When I first called, they told me they were booked out for the next week, and I asked if I could be put on a cancellation list. The receptionist kindly put me on the list, and 3 hours later I got call from the salon offering an opening at 2:30! It worked great! Thank you Fitgers salon & spa! I will be back!

Caring for your hair after COVID is something else. I can't even be mad at this place... it's in the BASEMENT of a bougie old looking building in the heart of downtown Duluth. I was greeted promptly with a smile. Note - I get really anxious with getting my hair done because I know for a cut and highlights I am going to blow $140 plus ... a chunk of change for me. So I'm a call of nerves asking sheepishly for what I want .. that will hopefully grow out well. Anyway - Cue Kayla (spelling?) Master colorist? I'm easy to please but hard to impress with hair care. Plus the chairs are comfy! Very stinkin happy. Will be back to ask for her! Take a chance and try them out!
