Colorwheel Hair in St. Louis, MO

Sam, the owner, wow! Sam didn't know me at all when - I called this afternoon -but that did not stop her from giving me a dose of her courteous charm and professionalism! Because of my crazy work schedule & the quick need to get my hair colored, like today! she did the next best thing... giving me advice on coloring it on my own.

Very sad. My appointment was at 5pm with Sam and came here little early and she started with my hair root touch up(it is single color, not an expensive style like balayage) at 4.50pm, she was done by 5:12pm. A new customer (with balayage) showed up right away (either she was a walk-in or Sam double booked herself for the same time of my appointment) and Sam started working on new customer's coloring on another seat right by me. I saw her rushing.

After 45 minutes(at 6pm), my scalp was burning and got itchy. And told her immediately about it, she told me it was only 35 minutes(not true) and she said that color can stay up to 35-40 minutes. She has never done this, usually washes my hair after 20-25 minutes. And she knows my scalp is sensitive because we had the same issue before with a shampoo she used. She had to change it.

After all I paid $75 for bang trim and root touch up, tipped her 15%. I am hoping this was only one time issue and if they fix it I can update my reviews.

Today my scalp is still itchy. I have to wash and see if it helps.

UPDATE: Washing my hair next morning helped. Found out there are few spots never touched! Poor service this time.

I have been seeing Ruth for over a year for highlights every ~3 months and a haircut every 5-6 months. She does a wonderful job and always takes the time to explain every step. She really listened to what I wanted and also gave her own input to create the perfect final result. Once, she even offered to modify my haircut when a few days later, I thought it lacked texture. She is always prompt with the appointment time and has good availability. In terms of the salon, it is well maintained/clean and bright/airy. I'm surprised this place isn't more busy, but I expect it will be in the next few years by word of mouth.

I followed Ruth from her last salon. Colorwheel is the best. So convenient and a great ambiance. My hair always looks fantastic after Ruth is done with it!

I saw Ruth for a balayage and she was fantastic. I had a previous bad experience where my hair turned out brassy/orange. I was pretty nervous that it would happen again but Ruth took note and assured me that we would acquire more of a cooler tone. I love how it turned out and will be going back to her for future touch ups. The salon was clean, seating was comfortable, and Ruth was attentive. I highly recommend her and this salon.
