Hmmm....where do I begin? It's crazy because I usually don't post negative reviews, especially when it comes to small black owed businesses, but as the days progress and I look at my hair the more upset I become! I went into the salon a few weeks ago to get MED knotless braids (this was my 4th, maybe 5th time here and I was always pleased) this time, was and still is a DISASTER! The braids were terrible and way too small for the LARGE parts that were sectioned off in my head, the part was supposed to be on the side - it wasn't, the braids were not medium (as advertised and shown on the website) at all! Called Yolanda and explained that I was not happy with the outcome, and she did try to rectify the situation by having me go back into the shop to get my hair 'fixed' - which I had to drive back to the next day (over 20 miles one way), after about a 30 minute deliberation of being told my braids were the size I paid for - CLEARLY they were not....I finally agreed on a FULL TAKEDOWN and a SCHMEDIUM re-braid (they tried to charge me an additional $175 for those BTW) , which should have been smaller than the medium size....so I was in that shop from 12 something PM until nearly 7pm (5 the previous day & sat for an hour w/an appt - was even asked to come in earlier - yet I was waiting on someone to come open the door to the shop! The braider wasn't too happy (I could tell, but hell - I'm paying give me what i paid for!) After the hair was done, it was just 'alright' still not the mirror image of the medium or Schmedium knotless braids/parts - they are still too big! Now here we are less than 3 weeks later, and my hair looks a HOT MESS!! It looks like these braids have been in for months, the front parts are supposed to be smaller, and they aren't! The parts are crooked and uneven and the sizes of the braids are not consistent with one another.....it's like the braider was rushing when she got to the top! I will NEVER return to this salon again! When they were at the old location, they had way better braiders, your appt was the time they started on you or shortly thereafter, I never had an issue with my hair of the level of customer service I received! I am very dissatisfied with this experience. Proceed with caution! ATP, I want my money back - I wish I could post pictures!

I am extremely baffled and upset at my experience that I had today! My biggest recommendation for anyone visiting, is to avoid the hairstylists name Ciara Pennington that works in the 2nd chair towards the farthest of the back on the left side..(I believe there's 2 hairdressers by that name so don't punish the nice friendly one- I believe she was prego last time I was there) but anywho! The first issue, which I didn't have a major problem with (because I'm very considerate of others!) is the fact that I scheduled my appointment for 10am only for it to be rescheduled until 2pm. I did receive advance notice, just to give credit where it's due. I made it at 2:10 pm and she complained that I was late which I can understand I felt bad for but Comon now it's called "grace period" for a reason. Anywho, This is my 2nd time coming and the first time I had an absolutely great experience with Cianna! She did my hair beautifully and even showed me the size of a braid before she proceeded because I kindly explained to her I wanted to know how big the braids would be before completing the whole style! Cianna heard me and respected that. Not Ciara! (Dark skin, on the bigger side with yellow jaundice eyes) I used the most considerate respectful tone that one could use and asked her when she starts working on the front of my hair, can I turn towards the mirror (because she had my chair turned away from the mirror) and this lady said to me "you want me to turn you towards the mirror? Why, you don't feel comfortable? You want me to get you another braider?". I responded graciously and just said oh no ur fine! I was here last time and seen ur work but I just want to make sure the front look right on my face. She then asks me the same questions but in a tone where all the customers and hairdressers can hear what we are discussing (embarrassing) and I apologize to her for offending her! She then proceeds to walk to the receptionist desk and explain herself to the owner and as I'm walking up, she says "I'm going home, I'm not about to do her hair when she obviously don't feel comfortable"! I yet again try to explain myself to the receptionist and owner....though, I began to get baffled at why this is an issue or concern considering I am spending over $200+ on a hairstyle I am forced to walk around with. (Hell, I had two vacations that I went on that I had an unfortunate hairstyle and I was not about to have this happen to me again!) but to have to explain myself! What?! So the convo moves outside and this girl literally gets in my face yelling saying I called her weird! Saying "I'm not about to be staring at ur face the whole time while I'm doing ur hair!" (Just rude) and I explained to her no,no! That's not what I mean and it don't gotta be the whole time..but after I felt like I was being "checked" I changed my whole tune and demeanor because "You got me messed up ma'am!". I felt like she wanted to fight me when all I was trying to do was assure her I respect her as a stylist but just asked for what I needed to feel comfortable! But yeah it was getting aggressive because I'm not about to have u talking to me sideways and embarrassing me! I drove over an hour to get to this shop to be basically told "sit down! Let it be a surprise and be happy with what u get...oh and u better tip me"! Oh btw, the website says to bring your own hair for the tribal braid style and I did... only to be told the length I purchased would be an additional $35 charge. I told them that's wrong to because the website doesn't specify any length guidelines. I even tried calling the day before at 6:45pm while I was at the beauty supply getting my hair to be on the same page but no answer. So I purchased the Outre expressions 52". The owner and receptionist apologized and supposedly I will not incur a charge for todays service and suppose to get my deposit back in 7 days! We shall see! I feel that the owner was very gracious, showed respect..but she didn't offer another stylist and just appeared to not do or say enough. Your client should not be placed in that position. Ciara need to grow the hell up and recognize if she want to work n a business like this..it's fair to be asked "let me see what u doing!" Many people struggle even having the courage to speak about their hair to the stylist..don't make them feel even more awkward! Shame on you!

Shop talk is terrible, all they do is talk about their customers after they leave and sometimes in their face!!! Customer Service sucks!!!! It's dirty in there especially the bathroom They eat food over your head while braiding very unprofessional!!! Who wants crumbs in their hair NOBODY!! Services aren't that great either, find somewhere else that's more professional!!!!

Now I do not like to go to shops in Detroit because they are typically over priced and have horrible customer service. That being said, I had a wonderful experience when I went to get my hair done. I got it done by Cori and she did a FANTASTIC job on my hair. I LOVE my knottless braids, they were a great length and size. She gave me great tips on how to maintain my hair which actually worked and she was very quick and efficient. Everyone was friendly and it was a very nice welcoming environment. I do plan on becoming a loyal customer and you should give this shop a chance.
