Laurie is an amazing teacher! I love how my haircut makes my curls pop, and all the techniques she talked me through are making it even better!

I had just moved to the area and was fortunate to have found Laurie Cain as my curl specialist. It took a while to schedule my first appointment, but it was worth the wait.

She's a curly girl herself and is very personable and knowledgeable about curls. She educates you on curly hair, explains the techniques she uses & how to take care of your curls at home, and tries different curl products herself to make recommendations and share with you what would work for your hair but doesn't push any particular product or service. In the curls class she offers, she goes into more detail about the curl world, has a client demonstration where you can see the techniques in action, answers any questions you have, and sends you home with a few free samples. I enjoyed having that opportunity, so I highly recommend taking the class when it's available.

She recently moved to a new location, and the new salon is more spacious, comfortable, and welcoming, not intimidating at all like some salons can be. She is also very responsive to emails, messages, and texts, which I appreciate when you have an emergency or need to reschedule or just have a quick question. I've been getting curly-cuts since 2014, so I highly recommend Laurie Cain and her skills as a curl specialist.

I have spent a ridiculous amount of time and money trying to figure out what on earth my curly hair needed. I wish that I had started with Laurie. When I finally made the decision to find a curly specialist, I read reviews and decided that Laurie was a good fit for me. Then I couldn't get an appointment. I was on her waitlist for months before there was an opening for a luxury cut. I finally got an appointment! She started asking questions before I ever even got there for my appointment. She asks a LOT of questions; and actually listens to the answers!  This isn't about her telling you what you need to do. It's about her figuring out what it is that you want and how you can best achieve that. In my case, I wasn't looking for a drastic change in hair style. It just needed cleaning up and shaping. What I needed most was information! And this was definitely a learning experience! I learned SO much! And she sent me home with product samples. Some, I loved and will buy. Some...not so much. Everybody's hair is different. What works for one may not for the next person. I was thrilled with my appointment! And I highly recommend Laurie. She not only knows her stuff, but she's really nice, down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I made my return appointment before I left.

New York City skills right here at home! I cannot say enough good things about Laurie! I have by been with her since 2014 and have yet to be disappointed! I spent 25 years dreading hair appointments and often went longer than a year without. Those usually wanted to straighten my hair or perm to "loosen" the curls. Not Laurie! She KNOWS curls! I am so glad I found her and have been along her journey as she continues to learn more about curls and teaches me!

Laurie is the best! I have never trusted anyone with my curly hair as much as I do with her. I leave every appointment feeling more confident than before as well as more knowledgeable about how to take care of my hair. She sure knows her stuff and really wants to make sure that you leave knowing more than you did coming in. It makes for a great experience both in and out of the salon. I will never choose to go to anyone else with my hair.
