I've been getting my hair done by Yama since I was a little girl. She started her shop from nothing and has turned it into something truly special. She gives the best box braids in Charlotte and they last two months if you take care of your hair and wrap it at night. If you're going to her shop I would recommend that you ask her to do your hair specifically. She has a few other women who work the shop with her but she by far is the best.

BEWARE, WILL NOT BE RETURNING!  Went because a friend referred me. My hair shop was booked. Thought owner was doing my hair but got a braided named Binta. Be careful if getting micro braids by Binta. My hair was not braided tight. The whole time she was talking about her personal problems. I mean damn, I love salon talk but it was annoying. The whole time Binta kept telling me my hair is too soft, I told her to stop while she is ahead if she couldn't braid my hair. Granted my hair is not super soft. Got micros on a Sunday, braids were coming out Monday. Took two visits the same week to so call correct. Monday a braid completely came out, owner put the braid back in. Wednesday, up to 7 were loose, not locked. Owner had Binta to lock braids (adding tons of PUMP IT UP TO WHERE THE BRAID LOCKS) & the next day, had more loose. Went with 18" quality hair & Walked out with 12" Binta kept telling me I need to get 22" human hair to achieve 18," & my hair was too "soft" to get the braids tight. Smh.  I have been getting micros for over 20 years. Never ever again. All the owner offered was for Binta to correct her mistakes in my hair. I asked the owner can she do box braids or correct & she insisted Binta "correct her mistake." Plus the owner told me I had to buy hair for box braids. I told her I just spent over $200 in hair & labor why would I do that & she advertise micro braids? Plus I did not want Binta back in my hair. How did I know it was going to be a worse experience? Binta treating me as if I did something wrong! If she felt she could not braid my hair into micros, she could have said so, I would have went elsewhere. Now I'm walking around looking crazy with thin micros, braided down way past the actual length of my hair! Have no choice but to keep in. Sad the owner would risk a horrible review versus correcting her braiders garbage. Waste of my money. Horrible experience. I will let everyone know how this place does. Very disappointed that the owner was so stuck on Binta "fixing" her mistake. I trusted the referral from a friend & the five stars on Bex page. Oh & for ppl that have anything to say about me taking care of my micros, I take very good care of. There is no way in the first week, a braid fell out & the rest were coming out. And no, I did not go back so Binta can screw my hair up worse, i found out after the fact that Binta doesn't even work there, that's her sister in law. Boy how I got played & lied to trusting the owners word & work I saw the owner do previously.
Now I'm in week 3, my hair is grown out at the root because the braids were not braided tight at the root. I have braids in the back loose, that we're not locked at all or were not locked properly. People please be careful. Trust & know I will wear a head scarf until my place gets me in, there no trust in the five stars anymore. All they wanted was money.

I am very happy with the service I received here .  I got knotless small size waist length braids and i am so happy with the results. I think it took about 4 hours which isn't long considering the style I got. The time flew by because we talked and laughed the entire time. It was like being in a room with my sisters. I definitely recommend this business. Oh and she didn't braid my edges too tight which was also  very important. I will be beck here

This was my first time getting box braids, really any braids other than 2 cornrows,  and so I looked for a place with good reviews.  I found this place.  I walked in,  no appointment,  and was told it would be about an hour.  I left to get cash and came back.  An hour later I was in the chair.  3.5 hours later I was walking out.  I love my hair.  Definitely recommend Bex African Hair Braiding.  I will definitely be back.  All three ladies were pleasant.  The braiding was fast,  and secure.  I expected to be in tears,  with the horror stories I've heard from other people going to other places.  It's tight,  but not killing me.  They didn't even braid my edges as I requested.
