AJ's Hair & Makeup in Corning, NY

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my hair care using AJ's salon! Environment is clean, staff is helpful from start to finish. A while back, I sensed I was being isolated to the back room because of my age which I disliked. As time went on, with an alternate stylist, I was positioned in the large room with other clients. They've got railings for folks that need them. What I appreciate is being treated understandably re hair styling etc. This is a great salon! I highly recommend it! Remember to take cash for giving a tip, credit cards are not acceptable for tips!

I feel bad writing a bad review but I hope it saves someone from getting as bad of a hair cut as I did... I'll start by saying I have not contacted or told AJ's about my experience. I live out of the country and left a few days after, and I would never have gone back to get it fixed. When I left the salon I wasn't sold but thought I would get used to it. It was an EXTREMELY dated cut. I asked for long layers and what I got was long with very short layers that they curled into the longer layers upon styling it so they were hard to see. I asked for weight to be removed and I found huge chunks taken out of it around my crown. Then he cut short whisps on the top of the crown of my head. I paid more for someone with more experience which just translated into very old techniques. When I got back home I had to cut 2 inches off to help the layers look normal and I am just hiding the chunks in ponytails for the next year till they grow out So upset...just don't go...

There are tons of places you can go to get your hair done on Market St and I would say this is definitely a place you should go to! It's deceiving because it looks small but when you walk by the reception, it opens up! A friend of mine recommended me to this place and I was so happy she did. I met with Anne for my hair and make up. I was eloping that day and wanted to look like a bride without being too crazy. She did such a great job and it stayed throughout the entire day! I went in the morning and it wasn't until the late afternoon that we wed so I was nervous it wouldn't hold. I didn't have anything to worry about at all. She was SO sweet and friendly, she made me feel super comfortable. AJs also does make up and I wanted to get it done but I am not the type to wear any. I made sure Anne knew I wanted something subtle because I don't wear it normally. She made me look so pretty and it wasn't overly obvious that I was wearing makeup. I even took a lipstick home that I think I will be using from now on! I loved my experience there with Anne. She was wonderful! Only downside to this place, you can't tip on a card so I'll have to go back!
