A La Carte Salon & Wig Boutique in Gardnerville, NV

The people here are extremely nice and knowledgeable.  There are nails being done, waxing, hair and wig service as well.  Please call ahead for a wig appointment.  They only do appointments.  No walk ins for the wig area. I like this place very much.

Lacey does really really great nails. I am compromised on my left side and in a wheelchair. She does so good. I highly highly recommend her

Had a great pedicure from lacy. It lasted a month and it was very relaxing. She customized the pedicure scents for something I favored. Would go back again next time I'm in town visiting

Went in to do a walk in and there was two ladies sitting there. One was busy and pretty nice the other was sitting in her chair on her phone eating and when the other asked her if she could get me in she started shaking her head no. Not impressed!

I made a same-day appointment for a gel mani pedi. This is a treat for me and not something I do often (Maybe once every couple of years).  I appreciated the flexibility of being seen same day. The spa style pedicure felt good as well.  

I can only give a couple of stars, however, because two gel toenails came off on day two and a finger came off on day three. By the time a week had rolled around I had lost the gel off all but the big toe on one foot, two nails from my left hand, and three nails on my right! They came off without any trauma and as a full nail (meaning they weren't chipped or anything, just popping off).

I spent a total of $90 with the tip and cannot express enough how this is a special treat so it felt like a lot to pay to not have it last.  The Saturday after Thanksgiving I got a hold of another salon and today marked three WEEKS that my gel mani pedi has held completely up!  Initially I simply reviewed the second salon positively, but seeing how long this manicure has held up I realized that something was absolutely not right with my first manicure and decided to leave this review.

It was suggested I go back to A La Carte to have them correct it. I didn't do this for a few reasons. 1. I was on a significant time crunch (which is why I tried to get my nails done early in the first place). 2.  If I went back to the same person, she may have fixed the messed up nails but what about the others? Then those would pop off? 3. I already didn't have good results so it didn't make sense to me to have the same person do them.

The technician was friendly enough, this manicure and pedicure just didn't work out. As for the second salon (Velvet Touch), in getting the nails redone I realized that one difference was that the first salon didn't "rough up" my nails so the gel didn't have anything to grab onto.  These are things I don't really know, I just commented about not remembering that part from the first visit, and it seemed reasonable that was a reason.
