A Better Place in Carmel, IN

I purchased a groupon. I emailed, called, emailed and called again in effort to schedule with her. I was kind at first and understanding that small business can become busy and overwhelmed with promotions like this (I am a small business owner myself). Unfortunately she never attempted to respond to my calls. Her vague emails were not reciprocated with the same empathy. She just told me to call groupon to get a refund. What an inconvenience. Terrible customer service.

I called, emailed, used the Schedulicity app so, so many times and days to try to make an appointment for a Groupon gel manicure with no response. I finally went into the shop to inquire about a booking for the groupon that expired on 7/13. She asked me for my email and explained she was very busy. I did inquire about another service as well. Verla emailed me the next day telling me how busy she was and said she couldn't take me until Aug. 1st but would honor my Groupon that expired on 7/13.  I wrote back that a gel manicure wouldn't work out for me on 8/1 and I asked her for a service that cost less, a no polish pedicure in lieu of the gel manicure. I also asked for a time for the appt. on 8/1. No response from the owner. I reviewed A Better Place on Google as well to warm others and owners response was get a refund from Groupon and a sort of polite don't come back here. Please be careful if you buy a Groupon from A Better Place. Groupon does not refund money after three days but will issue credit to buy something else.

I have been having my nails done for some time now.  I am an esthetician and my hands are often abused and in water.  I need my nails short for my job and polish doesn't last.  I started having gel manicure several years ago and while I loved them at first the love affair didn't;t last.  The gel would lift and I would peel it off. Over time this caused damage to my nail and I had given up being told that the gel "just wouldn't stick" and that "I would need them done weekly" After being with Verla for several months now I can say I won't go anywhere else.  She offers a wide variety of brands of gel manicures and after hearing my story we decided to try another brand.  Who Knew??  so now I am back with one of my all time classic favorite colors: ESSIE BALLET SLIPPERS. She has a magic touch and while I haven't changed jobs or anything I am doing at home; the polish STAYS PUT! The gel Mani includes cuticle work, filing, and the best hand massage ever! Try a pedicure too. My polish doesn't chip even when my toe nail does :-)

I tried six other salons in Carmel before finding A Better Place.  I can honestly say Verla is excellent at her job.  I am getting the best manicures I have ever had.

I purchased the multi visit groupon and cannot get them to respond so i can make the third appointment.  I have called twice as well as emailed.  The online schedule system will not let me schedule due to groupon.   With that being said i would not refer anyone to this business.
