Zen Salon & Spa in Portage, MI

I had an appointment for a pedicure which i booked and was confirmed for a month prior. I waited for 20 min before someone came out to tell me they didn't have me on the schedule. I showed the confirmation email but no one cared they said i could go online and make another appointment. I will not be going back.

I had an appointment for a haircut at 10am. I sat in the lobby for 15 minutes before I was informed the stylist had not showed up for work. They offered to reschedule, but as this was my first visit here, I will not be going back. What a disappointment.

Not sure about the work from Zen but I feel it very unethical for the owner to require the staff to sign a contract. Stylists are self-employed and sometimes it is necessary to try a place before making it a home for them. Considering distance, clientele count, etc the fit may not work. It's goes with the business. It's horrible, in my opinion, to even require a contract, let alone sue to collect on it. Tina P is getting treated horribly after her experience with this salon. She is a dedicated, hard worker and puts her clients first. To be treated with a lawsuit because she was not able to make enough money to make ends meet at Zen, it was necessary to move to a salon closer to hone. You should be ashamed of yourself Jessica!

We went there for hair for a wedding, it was a great time, the stylists were so nice and did a great job. They let us bring in snacks and were so accommodating! Thank you Lauren and Marisa

I booked an appointment for a shellac Mani regular pedí during normal business hours and a pedí for my daughter. Apparently Brooke is more experienced with hair. She didn't seem very capable with a nail file but I thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. The colors I chose were actually very nice. But what went horribly wrong still surprises me; I've been to many different salons with varied results however none so terrible as to have my pedí never set- despite wearing the sandals for hours my nails completely smeared and globbed off. So next day I call and owner scheduled an appointment for after Christmas as I was too busy to come in on Christmas Eve. Fine but not: The next day my shellac mani completely peeled off all nails- not chipped but completely came off. I never! So when I called the next day I really did not want to go through service again w such incompetence. I was offered a redo and turned it down. Just wanted my money back. At this point I have no Mani nor pedi at all. So then the owner Jessica tells me I must come in so she can see the damages. I'm not happy to take more time for this and I do have pics of my nails but ok Well when I go in she wants me to be satisfied with 35$ back of 85$ and tells me to go buy my own shellac. Lesson 101 in what NOT to do for good customer service. If you have read this lengthy review please do not subject yourself to the WORST I've ever experienced. I don't normally leave bad reviews as anyone can make a mistake. But NOT like this
