You will have no regrets coming here, I was very fortunate to find this salon on a whim. I was a loyal customer to a hair salon back in California for about 5 years. Having moved to Chicago, I knew it would be a struggle to find someone who I could trust and was worth the money. I refuse to go to overpriced hair salons. Called for an appointment. I came in with long hair that had not been cut for about 1.5 years. I was reluctant to find another hair stylist since the pandemic. Sally was the most meticulous and knew exactly what she was doing as I roughly told her what I had in mind. I came in for a trim/layers and highlights. I felt like I was taken care of to the fullest extent. I felt compelled to come right home and write a review for this business. Sally and her sister are skilled at what they do for +10 years and best of all, affordable. I am extremely happy to support a mom & pop/local business. I was provided the service and warm conversation as if I was having my haircut by an auntie! I will be coming here again without a doubt.

do NOT go here for a straight perm at all. I paid almost 450 maybe even 500 for a straight perm here and after over a year I'm still regretting and facing the issues it caused me. I also stopped by the salon once to show and let them know how bad they messed my hair up and not only did the lady deny that I paid that much, they had nothing to say except sorry that the straight perm didn't work. My hair is still completely ruined after the treatment and there's no fix to it yet. I wish I at least got a refund or some type of apology but nothing as of yet. Wish I could give 0 stars.

I have naturally wavy hair. Following two bouts of hair dying, not straight perming my hair for a while, and many days of aggressively combing out the tangles in my hair, my poor locks were in dire need of help. And Yip's Salon swoops in and saves the day once again! Instead of getting my usual Japanese straight perm, Sally actually recommended I get the Keratin treatment this time around. While the Keratin treatment lasts only about 3-4 months compared to the 6-12 months with a Japanese straight perm, the Keratin treatment reportedly gives hair unparalleled softness and shine. There is also a straightening part to the treatment, so my hair did end up straightened, but not PIN straight like the Japanese straight perm. This was great because I always thoughts the Japanese straight perms made my hair a little TOO straight sometimes. I was a little skeptical at first because Sally asked me to keep the Keratin solution in my hair for 48-72 hours after treatment for optimal results, so by the time 48 hours have elapsed my hair was a sticky, greasy mess. BUT OHMYGAWD, once you wash the solution out, you have Pantene commercial worthy hair! Am so glad I gave the Keratin treatment a go like the pro recommended, and you should too! I like it even more than the Japanese straight perms, it renders a more naturally straight hair look and your hair looks like a million bucks afterwards!

I've been going to Yip's Salon for my haircuts for many years now. And I plan to continue going for many more. Why? Because Crystal always does a great job cutting my hair and it's very reasonably priced. I strongly recommend it.
