This was my first time visiting this salon and the ambiance was quite nice. They had 80's music playing and it wasn't that busy for a Friday afternoon. I was overall pleased with the outcome of my hair I went in for a chocolate brown base color then did partial blonde highlights because of a Groupon I saw but here is where I am deducting a star and can see where the review from Samantha down below came from: I took time out my day to visit the salon the day before to make sure the service I was requesting was doable and I wanted to know ahead of time about how much it would cost. Sherif (the main hairdresser) instructed me not to buy the Groupon because he would honor the price and then when I mentioned wanted to change the base color of my hair from black to brown he said it's usually $130 but for me it would be $120. I showed him the Groupon for $96 so when I was told $120 I thought that would be my total price but at the end of everything it was $96+$120 that he charged me AND if I used card there was an additional 4% fee that he decided to drop in last minute. Nowhere is this fee displayed. So anyway, I paid without an argument but I just think it would be more respectful to customers if total prices are discussed even before they start their service. Other comments: -This is in a busy part of Jersey City so parking is very limited, you're better off taking public transportation. -Bring CASH unless you want to pay extra fees for your service -First salon I've been to where a guy did my hair and that hair washing, etc. he was an older gentleman but pretty nice and gentle. He definitely smokes too so if you're sensitive to smell or get annoyed by people with a smokers cough haha this place isn't for you -I would probably go back but definitely purchase the Groupon and not mention how much I paid for the Groupon oh well if they can't honor the price don't use Groupon

I think it's safe to say that your relationship with your hair is a very personal one, so it's important to find someone who shares that same passion for your hair before you let him/her touch your hair. I have been to a few hair salons before I started coming to this location. This establishment is located on the second floor, so you have to walk up a flight of stairs to reach them, but it's well worth it; the area is spacious, inviting and clean. There is plenty of space to sit if you're waiting to be seen or if you're waiting for a friend/loved one to finish whatever service they are there for. At first, I underestimated it, but when I finally decided to give it a try - I went in for a big cut - I was in love with the results. My hair was shiny, full and HEALTHY. I've been to places before where your hair feels so dry and unloved after sitting there for a service and paying an exorbitant amount for it which absolutely sucks. I have never dealt with that here, nor are their prices crazy; their prices are very fair. They take appointments and walk-ins. Of course, appointments are prioritized, but if you have the time to wait, they can almost always accommodate you, and if they cannot, they are honest about it and let you know when the next availability is. If you're looking for a place to take care of your hair, take a chance on this one! This place is definitely worth checking out - your hair will thank you!

PLEASE BEWARE!! I paid for a $400 value Groupon and the minute I told him (sharif) that I had a Groupon he said "additional $100". My hair is thin and slightly past my shoulder. So I asked him why he thought I should pay $500 for magic sleek. He said he usually charges $400 but that since I had a Groupon he wanted to add another $100. So basically he tried to scam me into an additional $100 after I already spent $200 on the Groupon that was valued at $400. That didn't sit well and he was intensely rude about it. The place is grimy and shady looking. Maybe he does great hair but it's sneaky to try to have people pay more money. If that's the case then don't even bother doing a Groupon deal.

I can not tell you enough how much experience was good. I got the perm anent magic sleek. Best price in the market I would highly recommend to everybody.

can i give sherif a million stats???!!!! i wish i could the best salon for magic sleek ever!!! my daughter is coming for magic sleek!! and we will get our color here as well. i'm traveling 45 minutes to come here. the nest salon!!!
