I love this salon and it's atmosphere. I see Lillith Vaughn for my hair. It's brilliant vivid colors and is very healthy. I also bring my 13 year old daughter here too. My girl loves to have her hair done. And she's autistic. Lillith is so patient with her and everyone here is very welcoming to us even when my daughter is being too loud or enthusiastic.

I see Lillith 2xs a week for my hair upkeep and it is worth every penny. Lillith knows how to do amazing color work. And my hair has never been healthier.

This salon is open and judgement free. LGBT welcome and affirming.

For complainers, please talk to the shop owner before you write negative things.
Salons rent booths (a lot of the time) and the person that started the shop needs your feedback. Don't write a negative review before you speak to the shop owner. Your inability to address problems should not affect all the people that work at the salon. Remember, most people don't spend time writing complaints b/c they are happy. They address them at the time the problem occurs. Their gripes die in the moment. Your YELP (secret) complaints affect entire businesses. If you post a negative complaint and you didn't address with the shop owner, you should not put your problem online.
Most people that do hair ask your opinion.  If they don't, you should have the courage to end the appt. if they do, and you don't voice your concern/frustration, it's on you. You don't pay these people to be your friend.  You pay them to make you look a way that you want to look.

Salon Absinthe is a magical place for city unicorns and land mermaids. If you want good hair- they do good hair. Owner Scarlet Strange is kind and precious and will work with any customer to achieve what they are wanting without compromising the integrity of their hair. Other stylists there are just as committed to excellence - and everyone that works there does it with flair. The environment is welcoming and non-threatening, and not even close to being snooty or pretentious as we all know of other salons nearby that specialize in that. I won't go anywhere else and the ladies here are truly wonderful and talented people and take care of you as if you were their best friend and after a few visits, you will be part of the family.

Place is dirty and I didn't get what I wanted. She bleached and highlighted my hair then put a toner on top. Doesn't look horrible, but I paid too much to be unhappy

I have loved Scarlet since I first went to her when she was at Tease in July 2014. she was the 1st stylist I saw in Knoxville, and the only one I will ever see! Little back story - I moved from DC to Knoxville, and I really had a time of finding a good hair stylist who was intuitive (b/c I have no idea what I am doing with my hair), asks the right questions (esp how much maintenance I'm willing to do), takes the time to explain to me how to make my blow out or styling last (again - no idea what I'm doing), and is engaging and personable. Scarlet checks every one of those boxes!!

She is skilled with those scissors, with that razor-edging thingy, and with any range of color you want in your hair! She's cut me short, gave me bangs, transformed me into a redhead, transformed me back to my natural color with a range of low lights, and -- as of today! -- added some really great rainbow colors!! I have never trusted a stylist so emphatically to do anything or take any of their suggestions, because I know it always comes out great!

If you haven't found 'The One' who makes you feel like a million bucks every time you leave the salon chair, or every time you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, then you need to make an appointment with Scarlet. Life is too short for bad hair.
