Venus Nails Spa in Front Royal, VA

I called in the morning just to see if I could get in on my lunch break. They seemed accommodating and said they would certainly fit me in. I arrived, and they were not ready for me. Tried to take me to the pedicure area even though I had specified the services I needed on the phone call- fingernails- fill- gel, etc. A gentleman then got to work on my nails. I showed him a picture of the color I was looking for- it also had some glitter in the pic, and he found one I liked- but I assumed I would it would turn out close to the picture. I don't expect perfection. When I started with him- I again reiterated acrylic fill- gel polish. He then started working- made my cuticles bleed--my pointer finger is still scabbed over and if i hit it on anything it begins bleeding again. It's been 5 days and it's still irritated. He uses the grinders and such which is typical- this took 45 mins--just for this part. Finally get to when I think he's going to start the "fill" process and he starts putting the base gel on my nails. Also- I feel the need to mention- the nail tech next to us who was helping a customer- took phone calls on speaker phone in front of everyone- and then made complaints about the people calling in. Back to my nails- I questioned him and said don't you need to do the fill first- and he looked confused. The tech next to us said something to the effect of- "you have to communicate that ahead of time" I said I had said it SEVERAL times since arriving including to the tech doing my nails. Thankfully the customer next to me also heard me say it several times and backed me up. My tech then starts over and starts filling my nails, seemingly annoyed, while him and the other tech have a conversation none of us can understand- which makes me feel silly. He does the fill, and gels my nails. They look ok. At this point- I am an hr and a half in the salon- need to get back to work- so I don't argue and just pay and leave. Would not recommend this place. They didn't seem super clean- seemed annoyed at their customers- there could have been a language barrier that caused the mess up- but ask someone in the salon for help if you don't understand what service I'm asking for. At no point did they communicate they did not understand me.

Clean and lovely spot, nice folks. My only complaint is one man who is consistently NOT gentle and has hurt me more than once. Last time, he tried to remove my gel polish on my toe without soaking first. He just basically tried to pry it off and it hurt like hell. I actually screamed. I don't know his name but if I could suggest anything to this place it would be to slow down, don't cut corners and be more gentle with all that you do.

Although my daughter and I have gone here a couple of times and enjoyed it, I am not happy about the customer service (by the owner). My daughter is in college and does not get to treat herself very often so her boyfriend gave her a gift card to get her nails done. She made an appointment with MICHAEL, who is AWESOME. When she got there, the owner put her with someone else (first mistake). The tech she had 1) kept being rough and then rude when she told him and 2) did not give her the color she asked for (which Michael came over and told him) When my daughter wrote a review (which was nice, aside from mentioning she was not happy about not being very well taken care of), the owner just gave the "see you next time" answer. As I said, she doesn't get to do this often and that was NOT how I expect to get treated when paying a lot of money for a "treat". This was a while back and sadly, we have not been back, which is a shame because we enjoyed Michael. He does a great job and he is entertaining:)

The staff was lovely, very friendly and kind. The building was clean and had a great atmosphere! I absolutely love how they did my nails, and I have had no lifting in the nails even 3 weeks later:) one of my nails was bitten accidentally by my dog, and it STAYED ON! I was so impressed.
