Ulta Beauty in Saginaw, MI

I went into this Ulta location today to restock on skin and hair care. I am not from this city but I do work at an Ulta Beauty in a different state so I do know where everything is for the most part. Keep in mind I am a black male and this is relevant to the story. While I was shopping and looking for my items, I noticed that the two employees, one who was at the register and the other who was walking around near the front of the store were speaking on the walkie-talkies, while also looking at me. Since I work at an Ulta I immediately knew what was going on, they were keeping an eye on me making sure I don't steal. Once I grabbed my items and started walking to the registers, I saw the employee who was at registers whisper something to the other employee on the walkie and it was obviously about me because as soon I as I came up to the register she looked at me while saying it and the other employee came back. I know Ulta has a history of being racist towards black customers, and I definitely feel like that is what happened to me today and it makes me extremely angry.

Ive stopped here several times on my way up north. Theyd get only 1 point, but they are speedy at the register. Pro: they have a good assortment in here of many brands. Con: theyre not stocked with much. 2)many samples are out of product; 3) most people working there are always engaged in conversations, playing w their phone, or something else. 4) the staff is 0/10 knowledge. Many don't even know where the PRODUCT IS in the store much less WHAT IT IS. I asked for a simple reco on moisturizing lip product and she was totally stumped. Get a NEW JOB!!! at a very bare minimum, u should always know lip products b/c most women- even with tight budgets- will spring for a new lipstick. One person tried to sell me a big pack of 10 lip products and didn't even ask me what my lip needs even were. Ulta obviously isn't training their staff. No comparison to Sephora gals.

This store never seems to have much in stock. The last 3x I've been there, they were out of Flower concealer, they have very low stock for colourpop so even though they have testers they rarely have the actual product available. Twice I was there for Lorac foundation #4 and they didn't have hardly any shade ranges in stock. What's up with the particular Ulta? There's always footwork so i don't see why it would be so hard for them to keep up stock. You're better off going to midland or ANY other Ulta for that matter. I come to this one out of complete convenience but disappointed almost every time.

I have never had a good experience at Ulta Saginaw. And I choose not to shop there. My first experience was looking for the tissue that is used to roll hair when perming. I pin curl my hair and use the tissue to keep the loose ends in. I approached two sales clerks and was given a very snobby look, then was told. "We don't sell trailer type hair products here, you'll have to go to that other store for that...Saaaaaalys" Then she turned in looked at the other clerk rolled her eyes and laughed. The second time I was buying perfume for my teen Son and Daughter (Christmas gifts). I asked for assistance in finding my Sons cologne. Again I got a very snobby reaction and an unwillingness to help. I had a bag full of product to purchase. I just handed her the bag and walked out. I ordered what I needed on Amazon. The Third time I went for my daughter, she had gotten some extra cash from babysitting and wanted to get something nice for herself. I refused to purchase anything but wanted to support her in our girl day out. First me were at the back of the store looking on a rolling cart rack. The lady who ignored us earlier while chatting with a coworker saw us and came rushing at us with her finger pointing at us wagging it in our faces, shouting "You, cant buy that" she then pushed the rack inches from our face into a back room. We decided to laugh it off as a crazy person. My daughter went to another part of the store to find the eye shadow pallet she was there for. Again the same attitude when asking for assistance. "Your sure you can afford this" as she looked my daughter up and down puckering her lips. My daughter started crying she set the product down saying she didn't want it anymore. I took her to Saphora where she was treated like a princess and given a sample for the way their competitors treated her. What a horrible store. No thank you. I

I went in yesterday, was looking for two specific products. I was greeted at the door. When I went up to the girl to ask for help she was on her phone. She then only gave 1 options for each product, telling me that they were all pretty much all the same. She gave me no other options in a beauty store full of options. I then asked for mini size and she acted like they didn't have the product in mini. I had to find it myself. She did not seem to care about my budget. Nor did she care about actually helping me find something I like. I don't understand why someone with so little people skills would be hired into customer service. She was rude, and obviously had no makeup knowledge. I ended up not buying anything because I will not support rude people.
