Tonic Hair Salon in Williamsville, NY

Have been to both Marisa & Kelly for cut and color and love their work! The salon is a great vibe - trendy but inviting - with high end products and tools. I've been to plenty of l Williamsville salons and feel like I've finally found the salon that delivers "big city" style and quality without the markup. Highly recommend!

I have been to tonic a few times for a haircut but being7 months post partum I decided I needed a little change and wanted to treat myself to some balayage. Kelly was the colorist who worked on my hair, she was very nice and the whole process took about 3 hours which is all I could sit for with a toddler and baby at home. When I was sitting in the chair I noticed the color was VERY faint but figured it would lighted as it dried, even Kelly said to be that it was very "subtle". After my hair was dried there was literally NO CHANGE in my hair color, it was the same. I didn't say anything at the time bc I really needed to get home but I guess I should have in the moment. I paid the $255 for the balayage and tipped Kelly $40. I went home and woke up the next day upset, I spent $300 on my hair and it looked exactly the same. I called the salon the next day to explain how I felt and spoke to Kelly who told me that there is nothing she can do that I received the service and if I wanted to get more dye put in I could come in and they would charge me. This must happen all the time with colorists but I would hope they would want to keep me as a returning client and make it right, even just giving me a discount would have been nice. It was a crappy experience, I went in for a hair dye and left with the same hair color. Super frustrating I will not be back.

AVOID AT ALL COST. I was overcharged $50- see attached bill and website charge for service for proof. First- they added $40 to my color for the toner. 99% of the time you'll need toner so expect this charge AFTER the fact. All the salons I've been include the cost of toner in the service. Here it's an add-on but isn't listed on the menu as an add-on so maybe they'll charge you $20 extra, maybe $40, who knows! No one asked me prior. I didn't know about this charge or agree to it but I had to pay it. Attached images: -See my bill, charged $130 (for the service listed at $115) +$40 toner, never mentioned or shown on their website. -See the service on their website Partial highlight and blow out is listed at $115. No mention of a "starting out point." When I asked the owner why I was overcharged she said I was being annoying! Sorry lady, your creative accounting is unjust! My highlights didn't turn out the way I asked. I asked for chunky highlights, I lifted and twisted sections showing what I wanted highlighted. I have grey coming in so I wanted a light highlight. Instead I got a light color, all-over, no dimensions, all the light brown is gone. At the end I reminded her and again twisted the areas I had wanted highlighted, she said "you want your greys to blend so you have an all-over color" 1- not what I asked for and 2- the brown will be growing in at the root making a line, if she left more brown the regrowth would blend better. Now I'll need low lights. I won't return. The stylist was very nice, I liked her a lot but I didn't like the result of the "all-over" "highlight." RESPONDING TO OWNERS REPLY: I think the owner's reply speaks well for why you want to avoid this place! Apparently she judged me when I walked in! I originally I scheduled an appointment for later in the week, they called me and asked me to change it to today. I knew exactly what I wanted yet, I wondered if they considered it an ACCENT FOIL (because I only wanted a few HIGHLIGHTS) but I let her consider it a partial (an upsell). I feel that the price they publicly post on their website is a fair amount (I never protested that) it's ADDING $50 without asking me! And having no menu to demonstrate that it's a reasonable addition, she overcharged me to be rude. I'm not the bully or the one stealing here, and I have proof. I left a working mother a $20 tip even though I didn't get what I wanted. Not a bully move. The owner seems erratic and without a moral compass. I'm not sure why she's choosing to personally insult me or bring Kelly Clarkson into this... pretty unhinged behavior for a business owner. Beyond YELP I'll be sure to file a complaint with the city, it's absolutely wrong to overcharge on a whim and who knows how often she gets away with this. Notice the owner doesn't address the discrepancy between the bill I posted and her charge for the service on the website. I was very kind until I was charged $50 extra. The owner has DM'd me stating the service charges are "starting off" points (I've screen captured her website) no mention that the prices are starting off points. Can you imagine ordering from a menu at a restaurant then getting an inflated bill and being told the menu shows "starting off" prices- take it to the judge! If you go here, expect to be scammed. They'll probably overcharged you if they think you have money. I'll let you know what happens with the better business bureau. I wouldn't have bothered with posting a negative review of the stylist, I've never mentioned her name. It's Becky, the owner, who rang up my bill, overcharged and tried to intimidate me into believing she has a right to a $50 overcharge.

I followed Marisa to Tonic! Today was my first time here and I loved the interior and the vibe. Marisa is a magician, I don't even have to tell her; she already knows what I need done. The very best stylist and person, absolutely love her!

Always amazing service at Tonic! I see Kaylia and she's amazing! Great personality and amazing talent!! Prices are great but the service makes it even better!
