Bad Service

When I arrived the person that was at the counter had her back turned towards the door & was doodling on a paper. Another lady had entered just before me & was standing beside her. Both had their backs turned totally oblivious to me waiting. They were chit-chatting for probably 10 minutes, about irrelevent things, then the first one that was standing there with her back turned walked behind the counter. Her name tag said Riley Assistant Manager. Then the other customer asked me "are you waiting?"  I said, "I've been waiting this whole time". The customer apologized & it was clear she felt bad. Riley didn't apologize or show any remorse . Riley didn't pay any attention to the front door, nor did she have any remorse when it was obvious that she was neglecting a customer. I cancelled my subscription & she still didn't show any regret of her rude & unprofessional behavior.

I would like to apologize in advance for this review but in order to give an accurate review there is a back story. Many many years ago I went to a tanning salon of a different name and was happy with the experience I had until the leadership changed and it turned into a place for young people. I left there and went to Tiki Tan. I was a little apprehensive at first but the staff was great, and older I might add, and for the brief time I was there it was enjoyable from the moment I walked through the door. Over the past couple of years I have watched Tiki Tan decline too. Before the change the entry/lobby area was fun yet tastefully decorated to a different theme every month or so and the staff was knowledgeable. Now, it feels like i am walking into a bank. I did have an issue at one location so i asked for the manager and when she said she was i knew i wouldn't get anywhere. She looked about 16. I figured it was just my luck so i went to a different location because there are several all tied together. Low and behold, it was the same bank environment, same very young ladies as managers and same lack of knowledge. I am not impressed. The salons are dirty and it seems every location that i have been to either have beds that don't work properly or that are completely broken down. I was in the Nappanee area so I decided to try this location as my final attempt. The drive is a little longer than I'd like and the set up is odd with a hair salon sharing the space but it's clean and to my amazement the manager is actually old enough to be a manager and very knowledgeable. She and her employees wear name badges which is nice. The beds they offer are the same as their other locations though. Breaking or broken. Call me old fashioned but this manager needs to train the others on courtesy, respect, and their product/service knowledgeability. Im not sure how long I will continue to drive to Nappanee but this salon is the lesser of the evils.
