Thistle and Poppy Salon in Boise, ID

I'm new to Boise and came in for the first time to a get a pixie cut - a pretty drastic change for me. It's always a risk going into a new salon and having someone who has never cut your hair before do such a substantial cut. Jessica handled it like a champ and was very sweet & accommodating. I am loving my new cut!

Since moving back to Boise, I've had a hard time tracking down a salon and hairdresser that I was really satisfied with. I live fairly close to the Thistle and Poppy Salon and every time I passed by, I always commented on how cute the outside was and how I should probably check it out. Today I finally had an appointment and I am so happy that I finally decided to get my hair cut there!

Jamie was my hairdresser and she did a great job of both thinning out my ridiculously thick hair and cutting my hair exactly how I wanted!

The atmosphere inside is great as well. They have a really simple and cute design that I really liked. Some salons are so flashy with super bright lights and really loud music that becomes really overwhelming and overstimulating, but Thistle and Poppy has a really calm and just generally pleasant environment.

I'll definitely get my hair cut here again!

I have been going to Lindsi for years, and followed her over from another salon. I love the building and the ambiance of Thistle and Poppy. The salon is well appointed, I have never had an unsatisfactory experience and my hair is always exactly how I ask for it to be. Lindsi is gracious with her opinions and easy to talk to. I am always happy with the execution and get so many compliments on my hair that I recommend all of my family members and friends see Lindsi. Love the fresh flowers in the salon and the friendly demeanor of the employees as well. So happy to have such a gem on the bench!!

I had high expectations for this salon given earlier reviews, but I was very disappointed in the service. I saw Jamie several times and in my opinion her focus seems to be on her at-home craft business rather than being a successful hairdresser. Moreover, she only works very limited hours at the salon making it even harder to book an appointment with her. The appointments I did have with her were less than satisfactory. For example, one time I had to wait an inordinate amount of time for her to finish a customer before taking me. When my appointment finally started, I nicely inquired about the delay, I was told it was because the woman had not been given a sufficient amount of time for what she wanted done. Perhaps Jamie should have told the customer, "Sorry but in the time allotted only these few things can be done", especially knowing she had a customer, who was always prompt, scheduled to come in. However, she chose to take some of my appointment time to continue to work on this earlier customer. Another time Jamie attempted to color my hair but it looked exactly the same as before she began the procedure. She did not charge me but I had spent all that time getting to the appointment (over a two hour drive) and waiting for the color to process only to have my hair look exactly the same! However, I was generous and tipped her for her time even though my time had been wasted. Finally, Jamie had the salon email me at the last minute and cancel my upcoming appointment forcing me to scramble and find somewhere else to get my hair done. I found this very disturbing as it implied my patronage of the salon was not desired, as if I had done something wrong. Fortunately, I was able to find an extremely professional salon in Boise with a wonderful stylist and my hair has never looked better...

I was not happy with this place. The girl that did my hair told me how much I would be charged before I went in, it was a reasonable price. Then she messed up my hair color. She did fix it, but I was not happy with price I had to pay. I was not impressed with the service here. I won't be back and I don't recommend this place.
