The SALON by InStyle Inside JCPenney in Merced, CA

So far, I have had a great experience, one time my stylist was running behind schedule, but another stylist was so kind to take me and give me wonderful service. I had a great hair wash, blowout, and haircut. I will definitely be going back to the new Stylist that was so kind of help me.

This salon is a fantastic place to get your hair done! I've been going here for 8 months now and the stylist I always ask for is Shardae. She's a pleasure to talk with and truly makes you feel at ease. She does a great job with my hair every time no matter if it's cutting, styling, or dyeing it. Everyone here is very kind and inviting when you walk in too. There's also a very comprehensive selection of haircare products available to buy. I highly recommend coming here for all your hair needs, and definitely ask for Shardae!

Yvonne is so Amazing! We have such a great time when I get to go to the Salon. She is committed to trying to get you what are looking for. I was nervous to try to find a stylist in Merced but she has been reliable and took as much time as needed with me. I had a great time having conversations with many of the stylists while in the Salon. I felt very at home there.

Horrible customer service. I literally left this place almost in tears, due to one of the workers stating to me that her manager doesn't allow them to cut any children's hair if they are CRYING. You have got to be kidding me! I had no idea that someone would even have it in their heart to say something like this or to enforce this rule if it even exist. Where is your compassion for little kids who are a little scared. I really hope the ladies who work there don't have any kids, cause that would be a shame.

I booked an appointment online and just chose a random name, and when I got to my appointment the tech was about 20 minutes late. Even though I had wrote on the appointment when I booked it that I wanted a haircut and balayage She still asked me what it was that I wanted and was not prepared. We discussed that I wanted my hair really light from almost dark brown and my reservations about going so light. She said that she would bleach it from the roots and I would probably have to change my eyebrow color. I just figured she was the professional so I would take her advice. About 6 1/2 to 7 hours later I was done. She did not get every piece of my hair bleached so I had leopard spots everywhere in the back and she had to keep using toners and washing it out with blue shampoo because it was really brassy. I was so tired of sitting there for so long so I just paid for it and went home. Altogether I paid over $230. When I got home and looked at it I noticed that underneath and in the back I had leopard spots everywhere it looked ridiculous and it was green. I followed the instructions she gave me using a blue shampoo and the next couple days it just kept turning more and more green. After spending so much money there I did not even want to deal with them, she was very nice so I did not want to hurt her feelings and complain but my hair was really messed up. I wound up just going to the store and buying two boxes of black Dye and covering it up so I did not look so ridiculous. Now my hair is ruined and I have to keep covering it with box dye because the bleach keeps coming through. It has been about five months now and my hair is totally ruined.
