The River Oshun in Baltimore, MD

I had a very educational consultation experience with Oshun, who paired me with Noah. I've nicknamed Noah, Ms Magic Fingers. She has absolutely transformed my anxiety about my natural hair into a special relationship that has caused me to fall in love with the texture and diversity of styling it. They've given me great hair tips that's helped with an area that was thinning so much it began to look like balding. Thank you ladies for CARING for our natural hair.

I went to see Koko at the The River Oshun salon on Saturday, November 24, 2018. It was my 40th Chanel-themed birthday party that night and I wanted to be sure I looked right. I had wanted a natural updo and I had several pictures of what I might get. I had a discussion with Koko about what style might fit me better and we selected one. To my dismay, Koko ended up doing a different style. I asked her to take it down and redo it but instead she added more hair which is not what I wanted. At this point, Koko started to develop an attitude. When I asked her to redo it once more, she blew up. Koko initially told me that I had to wait for her to finish her other clients first. Then, she started yelling at me and told me that I had to pay her for what she did thus far and got on the phone with the owner, Oshun to discuss further. She even threatened that she would call the police if I did not pay her right away. All the while, Koko was on the phone with Oshun and there were 2 other clients in the shop. She also lied to Oshun and said that I had "threatened" her on Instagram the night before by saying "I will be at your door at 6:55am". I only said that because my appointment was at 7:00am and I had plenty to do in preparation for the party. I was pretty much quiet during Koko's ranting but I told her that she was acting extremely rude and disrespectful and I also told her that I had all intentions of paying her for her services. I basically paid Koko and left without getting my hair redone. I told her that I would pray for her. It is quite obvious that Koko has issues and I would think that Oshun should have calmed her down or at least asked to speak to me during or after this interaction. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I LOVE OSHUN! This was the best hair salon experience I've ever had. I got the Cuban Twists done and they're gorgeous! I seriously cannot recommend enough. The place is spotless and Oshun is so kind and welcoming. I absolutely will be coming back for more!

The best salon experience I've ever had and I've had a lot. Everyone was so down to earth and friendly. Appropriate and inclusive conversation throughout the salon. That's before we even before we get to the care taken with my hair and how bomb my chunky flat twist were. I can't remember the assistants name. But when I tell you she washed my hair... she WASHED my hair. She even asked for any places that I felt needed extra attention. I had none because she cared for my entire mane and scalp. My chunky twist halo was so bomb that everyone at work was asking why I took it out. I received COMPLIMENTS on top of COMPLIMENTS. Working in the corporate world I can tell that everyone doesn't "get" my natural styles. This one they embraced. Thank you for the best style ever and the wonderful experience.

Unprofessional owner/stylist and business practices. Prior to booking I read the website and stylist's policies throughly. During the appointment my hair was washed and as soon as I got into the chair the stylist refused to do the style booked since my hair didn't meet her standards which was not conveyed prior to booking. I left very disappointed with blow dried hair and no style. After leaving I had a conversation with the stylist and she was unwilling to compromise after explaining the issue or refund my deposit. In addition the stylist then updated her website to reflect the information that the website lacked prior to appointment. How coincidental!
