T Salon &hightea.today in Kingston, NY

For several years now I have bought the official tea of NY, which is really T Salon's Sunrise in Tibet, but for Gracie Mansion is packaged as Archibald loose leaf tea. I called and ordered three canisters and I was asked if I wanted bags or loose tea. I said loose tea. What arrived were three glass jars of bags!! After many calls and conversations with the owner, I was told that I could have the loose tea only if they call it Sunrise in Tibet, because Gracie Mansion now only wants bags . So why wasn't I told that on the phone when I placed the order?? I cannot return the tea or get any kind of satisfaction for what she admits is their mistake. I understand health laws and have no problem with that, but wonder how she can stay in business when she clearly cannot communicate with her customers. I asked for some empty canisters because I dont like breakable glass jars in the kitchen with pets and small children, and she complained that it would cost her $4 to mail them to me!! NOT MY PROBLEM!!!!

I have to say, it is odd that this place went from having its own store front to Chelsea Market and now in what can be mistaken as an office building. I actually assumed it was still in Chelsea Market and had to take a walk over to this address. Next, What I have read below shocks me. I believe it was the owner who welcomed me and helped me make my purchase. She seemed very friendly and helpful. Also I have bought teas from here as gifts and not once got any complaints about them. So I actually like going to T Salon. Its always interesting to find new blends of teas and interesting variations. The new location is quite small compared to previous experiences. Its actually small in a good way though. A nice place to sit down and browse through their assortment of options. I also didn't find their teas to be to expensive as I have seen other teas cost much more. I really cant say much aside from having a good experience. I am open to recommendations. I am a former employee and I will attest to the fact that the owner is insane. I only worked with her for 2 weeks, at the location on 26th Street, but from my first encounter with her -- I knew she was crazy. The tea is good, but obscenely overpriced. Everyone that worked there DESPISED her. She is a liar and is extremely two-faced. It was one of the worst employment situations I've ever had. The store barely stays afloat due to her lack of care for paying simple bills and she has issues working with various vendors because she doesn't pay them either. I would never buy anything from this maniac again. I'm sure there is better tea in New York.
