I visited Swoon in June as a first time client and paid under $200 for a partial balayage and cut. I went in for the same appointment and it was over $100 more. I was so put off and upset, and apparently the stylist should have quoted me ahead of time. I worked with Tabitha who was really understanding of the situation, and after some support got my bill down to $216. But once I got home I saw an additional $44 charge. I was of course upset and called back because that's the 2nd time in the day surprise charges were in there. I should have looked closer, that's on me for handing over my card without paying attention. I wouldn't have purchased the earrings from the boutique had I known, but I'm sure it's too late to return them. On top of that, I'm so unhappy with my cut and color. Like the first cut, the stylist gave me a "rough cut" (her words) which I've had done before ahead of bleaching. When she went through with the dry cut, my wavy hair was air dried and not brushed out or parted. I thought she'd finish after blow drying like last time and have me stand up to get the V shape I like, but when she went to curl my hair, I asked and she said she already cut it. It's of course not even, very blunt and still has dead ends. Finally, during my first appointment I said I would like some dimension with the balayage, which she nailed. The second time I let her know I wanted it a cooler blonde (showed pics, and pieces of my current hair of the goal). Fast forward to the end result and not only is it NOT a balayage (it comes all the way up to my scalp), it's more yellow and brassy than cool. The owner was dealing with a family emergency so wasn't available to talk, but I was promised a call the next day. I let it go bc I was so busy with a wedding and figured that maybe something more came up personally, but almost a month later and I haven't heard a word from them. The stylist did reach out to apologize and offered haircut adjustments, but I don't feel comfortable anymore and don't want to pay more than I already have. I had high hopes for this place, but disappointed to have to find a new stylist again. Make sure to get a quote up front.
Stylist was not able to understand the style of my hair after explaining and showing a picture of myself after my last cut. She made an odd comment on my bangs and then continued to ask multiple times about the length of the layers of my hair. She gave the impression that she did not know how to cut my hair and implied it was my fault for not explaining well. In my experience a confident stylist with skills would never do that to a client and can Understand what someone is looking for after it is explained and a photo shown. Also, she called me "friend" about 10 times. To put it in context, it went like this... "Hello, friend", "I'll be your stylist today, friend" "how would you like your hair friend?". SUPER WEIRD and a total turn off.
Called in for a last min appt. They welcomed me on my bday and showed me love! Had my hair done by Brandi, loved it! I loved her attitude and all the info she shared. Especially loved the products she used. I highly recommend this place !
I have been going to Swoon for over 10 years! Brittany the owner brought Brandi to the team 2 years ago! I was there yesterday afternoon for my regular apt with Brandi. Its so fantastic to see her amazing growth and her talent has grown so much! Attention girlies with LOTS of hair that also happens to be thicc (with two c's)! I hate having to find a new salon because some stylists like to passive aggressively make me feel guilty for having so much hair :') Also, it's hard to find a stylist who has experience bleaching Asian hair with different undertones. As you can probably guess with my 5-star review, my experience with Swoon was AMAZING! Jess, their newest stylist, was perfect. She listened to what I wanted to do, made great suggestions, and the end result was simply perfect. My trim turned out great, and my hair how has fun summer balayage without too much contrast, which is exactly what I wanted. I was so comfortable throughout the whole process, honestly felt like I was just catching up with a friend while getting my hair done! 10 out of 10 would recommend Jess and Swoon Salon & Boutique!
