Sugarcoat Nail Salon in Van Nuys, CA

My experience here was not good I had a miscommunication with the nail technician she thought I didn't want any color on my nails That's when everything started to go downhill the owner had an attitude the tech had an attitude you know I understand when misunderstandings happen but there's no need for anyone to have an attitude I was just in a state of shock that what she thought. I got my toes done the color is good but the shape was so uneven literally three toes on each foot are uneven this made me Unsatisfied with the work so I let the owner know that my toes were uneven and she tried to say they were fine if they were fine I wouldn't have said anything but they weren't I had to continue to push that they are uneven and point out each toe that I saw was uneven my exact words were one is rectangular and the other one has rounded edges. I also had to state any good technician would be able to spot the unevenness right off the bat the fact that I even have to say anything is a little ridiculous for seeing how well your Instagram looks with all the nails and the vines that you have on there and how even all the nails are why am I getting this . So apparently taking pictures of their work with my own phone is frowned upon she just stood there trying to convince me The work that just got done was even and nothing was wrong with it as if I am lying like if we were to go to court and I show them this picture hurts and brought in a real nail technician in to validate if this was a good nail job or not I would not lose she big grudgingly he said OK the nail to taxation will fix that and so during the process of meeting pictures I see her looking over her shoulder giving me a dirty luck asked her well what I'm taking pictures what's wrong with that and then all the sudden her friend who's getting her nails done spoke up and told me that I needed to stop complaining stop complaining about something I have a legitimate complaint about excuse you and her just say she's a want to hear me anymore I'm like why are you even involved and she tried to say I was being annoying by complaining about my toenails that were filed down on evenly or not file down at all.... How professional to have your friends come in and try to speak up for you will think God for the other witnesses that were there they can .

My first visit...Kris did a beautiful job, hands down! I had dropped off my kids at school and was looking for a place that was open that early. She was the only person that answered my call. Was I glad I came across that business. It was so cute! When I walked in, I couldn't stop looking around, very chic! When Kris was done with me, I felt like I was hanging out with a friend that I'd known my whole life. She is such a beautiful person, truly, inside and out! Ohhh, and my nails looked fabulous! When you come here, you get an experience, not just your nails done. Thanks hun!

So In love with my nails joy did an amazing job she is so talented she is very patient and always takes her time is perfecting your nails this was my first time here and I am very pleased with my nails and the parking is easy

Broke 3 nails from ANOTHER SALON, they lifted at the end and hurt badly. Called Kris, never been to the salon before. She gave me an appointment to fix the nails for a very fair price of $15 in total and was able to accommodate me almost instantly. When I arrived, there was almost no waiting time and Cari fixed my nails (the other salon really effed up and Cari did her very best to make it as painless as possible). Highly recommend her as well, good time! A few parking spots outside, but might get crowded at times. You can't tip with their credit card machine-pls. be prepared to tip in cash. Every CC-transaction requires an extra charge of $2. I didn't know and hence didn't have cash on me-next time! Clean working environment, super cute salon. I really enjoyed how they cared about their customers and talked to me/them, many salons don't care and will talk to each other as if you don't exist-that's not what you get here for sure!! Loved it and will defini Second visit didn't go quite as well unfortunately, changing experience from 5* to 4*. Price was quoted $40 to me and I ended up paying $53 (without the tip, with tip almost $60). When I asked for the reason Joi, who did my nails, explained briefly why-but the reason wasn't ok. I didn't ask for extra gel and I had one nail in another ORDINARY GEL COLOR, nothing special, but they charged me $10 extra even though I asked the girl at FD prior if it's extra which she answered with a no. The work itself was very good, but you need to really be on their toes abt the prices. Not for me, too confusing. Unfortunately, since the owner really looked like a super solid person-need to pass this on to staff.

I love my nails. The girls are great super talkative great atmosphere. It just sucked having to wait an hour... and even after I asked the person doing my nails how much it would be she didn't explain it to me very well. I thought it was going to be 85 but in the end it turned out to be 95. But I had a good experience.
