STRATA Spa at Garden of the Gods Resort in Colorado Springs, CO

Booked a massage and that was a nightmare the super rude receptionist Barbara tried to refuse services to us because she messed up with the schedule but still tried to charge us a cancellation fee so she wouldn't get in trouble it seems. She had this vindictive attitude also which bothered me a lot! There weren't many people there staying at this resort and I can see why. There really is nothing too good about this place. I felt like my vacation was more stressful than my work week, in fact I enjoy going to work and being home more than I enjoyed this resort if that tells you anything. I feel like I paid lots of $$$ almost $500 per night to get treated poorly. This place really has nothing going for it. Save your energy and spend your money where you will get treated better. I found the Broadmoor or Cheyenne resort to be way better.

The level of customer service and professionalism is really lacking here. There is an extremely rude receptionist named Barbara who gave us a very hard time. We had an appointment that we had cancelled per their 48 hour cancellation policy. Barbara claimed we never cancelled it and threatened to charge a 50% fee of the service unless we came for the appointment. I assured I had cancelled but told her we would come if we were going to be charged a steep cancellation fee. When we arrived Barbara informed us that she cancelled the appointment and charged us the cancellation fee of $160 to our room. I told her that was unacceptable and I would like to have the massage if I had to pay a cancellation fee she refused so I asked for  it in writing that she is refusing us service but still charging us a cancellation fee even though we are here for our appointment.  I also told her I'd like to speak to her manager. She told me the manager was not available and that she felt unsafe for her staff because of the way we were acting by refusing to pay the cancellation fee after being refused service. So basically she was wanting to charge us for cancellation even tho we were willing to get the massage and showed up on time for it and she's refusing us service. She actually was dishonest about this and after talking to the front desk we were able to get the charge dropped. But Barbara has absolutely no manners or customer relations skills and is downright vindictive to her customers at the spa. I would avoid this spa and go elsewhere,  a big portion of my afternoon was wasted trying to sort this out while on my vacation. Its really a shame that such a nice resort would allow such a nasty mean spirited person like Barbara to run their spa. I've gotten treated way better at other spas. Her behavior was totally unacceptable.

Wife and I stayed there this past week...Facilities were awesome. Staff was extremely professional and courteous.  Views were amazing.  Food was top-notch. This resort offers a touch of class overlooking a place that God certainly touched with his own hand. We highly recommend staying here!

I scheduled a couples massage with my Mother and was looking to have a nice relaxing fun day. What I got was a mess from initial scheduling. When I booked over the phone I informed the staff that I was pregnant. They explained that I would have to fill out additional releases. None were provided at check-in. I then showed up to the room and the staff had no idea I was pregnant and were not prepared with further delayed my massage eating up my paid for time. I was running a few moments late and was annoyed they were not ready to treat me. The staff did not brief me on the amenities and I was left to wander the small space on my own. The website stated that we could have lunch or drinks ordered in which was not true. We were told we had access to a hot tub which was "broken" when we got there. When we tried to book other services at check-in we were told nothing was available but found out by staff the day of that was false. I attempted to book a session in the pure sense soft pack bed when I scheduled the massage and was told it was broken but that they would call me if it was fixed between now and my appointment. This did not happen and when I walked past the room I asked the massage therapist about the bed and she stated it has been fixed and working for weeks and was completely booked. With nothing else to do, I was left to spend my time in the  "relaxation room". I was anything but!  It was noisy and not relaxing at all. The staff walked in and out the entire time talking, eating and refilling the snacks. The snacks were nuts and banana chips which left me unimpressed for a"high end" spa experience. There were two different sets of children that came in the room laughing and talking. The room was not as dark as I thought it should be. The cucumber towels were not replenished my entire day there. We had no access to the pool like I have had at other visits. You must be staying at the hotel or a member of the club to have access to anything. The salt room was just ok, nothing special. Overall, I left more annoyed than relaxed. The gratity ended up being $60 on top of an already $175 massage. This was not worth my time or money. This is an expensive spa without feeling luxurious in any way. I have been here in the past and loved it. I now find myself unimpressed and will not return or recommend to anyone. I am better off spending my day at the Broadmoor. Fewer rules and more pampering for the same price and it is easier to book. DO NOT expect a boutique experience. Spend your money somewhere else!

Mom and I enjoyed the experiential shower, Himalayan salt room, steam room and relaxation room with tea and snacks.
This place was clean, toiletries were well stocked, music was peaceful and cucumber cold wash cloth were refreshing while in the heated rooms. It was magical how all the amenities were always full.
We did a couples wonderful Zen massage with April and Tracy that were very intuitive and served us yummy macaroons after our session which was a unique touch.
