STAR NAILS AND SPA MIDDLETOWN in Middletown, RI

This place has gone down hill. The staff is rude and they are not gentle with your nails. I used to come here all the time, but due to the service I switched to another salon on the island-- I decided to come back today after a year of not going here, but it reminded me of why I'll never come back. Very rude staff.

Booked a regular manicure with gel removal. The nail tech I had was very rushed and almost cut every one of my cuticles. I didn't understand why she seemed in such a hurry, I wasn't late. In fact I was early. Roughly buffed and filed, no care in the world. I paid before polishing as usual.
I only wanted a coat of clear regular polish to give my nails a break. She took less than a minute to finish painting and sent me on my way. I sat down to dry my nails and looked and saw some of my nails still had gel polish in corners and bloody cuticles.
At this point I was frustrated and disappointed with the service. I'm aware of the sign that says tips are appreciated but honestly, I didn't feel the tip was justified. I had a quick file and a sloppy clear coat applied.
After a few minutes of drying, I proceed to leave. My nail tech actually stops me in my tracks and tells me that "what I paid did not include tip."  I couldn't believe she was actually asking me to tip her so I had her repeat herself. "Tip??" Gave her a couple bucks and left.
Overall I think this was highly unprofessional. I could understand if the service I had was more expensive, time consuming, and maybe performed better. But given the experience of 20 min that I just had, I couldn't justify it. I will not be returning to this specific star nails in Middletown.

I always go to Alex who does a great job with my nails. Love the 2 minute shoulder massage they give after nails and toes treatments!

Last month I had my pedi and mani done. I explained before hand that I was on blood thinners and she must be careful not to cut me. WELL, she was using the nippers and sure enough....she cut me. She kept putting some powder on it but it didn't work. After about 15 minutes, it finally stopped bleeding. The one positive thing I'll say is that she genuinely felt bad and was sorry. Fast forward to Tuesday Sept.26th. I went in for my pedi & mani. I had a new person named Andy. I explained my problem and asked that he be very careful. He didn't cut me but he was rough working on my toe nails. I now have an infection and will need to see a Dr. I tried soaking it and using ointments but it's still a problem 4 days later. I"m scared to death to see a Dr because my toe hurts horribly when I touch it. I can't imagine how painful this visit is going to be. I'm DONE with Star Nails!

Technician cut my great toe nails down on each side.  I yelped because it hurt but she didn't seem to understand me.  Now I have ingrown toenails and will need to see a podiatrist.
