SmartStyle Hair Salon (17919) in Tampa, FL

DO. NOT. GO. HERE. I would give it no stars if I could. I went here for a formal style hairstyle. the hairdressers (there were two at the time, an older Spanish lady and a black lady). One of them started to do my hair and bickering with another customer. The hairdresser was at fault because she was very rude in answering the customers questions even telling her to "be quiet or if you can do it then do it yourself". I also brought my daughter but asked the hairdresser to immediately stop because she was tearing through my daughters hair making her cry. To which they then charged me 55$ to which was not even finished (after arguing with each other about how much to charge me, because THEY didn't even know) the hairstyle I chose for myself looked nothing like the photo I showed the dresser, which was a simple hairstyle. After she finished my hair she told me she "had to guess what I wanted" Lord. Altogether I was charged $175 for absolutely nothing. NEVER AGAIN. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

2/07/18 I went to SmartStyle for a haircut and style. Kelly was the operator. She previously had serviced my hair at the same location. She did not shampoo my hair. Upon completion, she asked if I was paying cash and I replied yes, she indicated the bill was $45.00. I decided to pay with a credit card and she then altered the transaction to $44.94 As per the receipt She charged the following: Cut & Shampoo: $15.97 Cut, Shampoo & Full Style: $24.97 which is duplication of service. The salon established rate is Cut, Shampoo & Full Style (curling/flat iron): $29.97 I always wear a weave, which was previously serviced by Kelly, and well as by other operators at other SmartStyle salons (n the Lutz store and the store on Gunn Hwy) and the transactions varied between 15.97 and 29.97. I did not question the fee until I left the salon. While I was at the salon I had received some disturbing news about an elderly family member and I was on a 3-way telephone call. Upon arrival at home, I called Kelly and informed her that the charge was duplicated. She indicated her rate was based I having a weave and that no one can tell her what to charge and I should go to another salon.

I went here for literally my first real adult haircut (haven't been to a real salon since I was a little kid) because I had a coupon for $10 Shampoo & Haircut printed on the back of a Walmart receipt. I understand that otherwise it would have been $15. Service was quick, efficient and I'm fairly pleased with the result. I went on a Saturday evening without an appointment and there was no rush. My stylist, Kelly, was very careful about finding out exactly what I wanted so she could give it to me. She was also very courteous. However, I got the one of the simplest trims in the book so not much work to be done. I'm not very picky about my hair. Also my father used the same coupon but was not offered a shampoo and he never asked before or after the haircut for it. I'm not sure why that happened. Unless I decide to get a different hairstyle that needs expertise, I will probably come back here for my next trim. If I want to get some advice about a new hairstyle I will go to a different salon.

For a quick trim and some color touch up at an affordable place, this place is good enough.
