Shine A Nail Boutique in Madison, WI

I hesitate to write a review when I feel I have really had a pretty good experience but unfortunately here I go. The mani and pedi process was great and the staff was very nice however the very next d ay I noticed my nails started to chip off. I don't do anything unusual to cause this and manis I have had in the past have lasted much longer. I have an event this weekend and called and nicely explained that I'd like to come in and have my nails redone. I was told that since I only had a basic manicure I should expect chipping. After 1-2 days? I have had a lot of mani/pedis in my life and this has not happened to me before. I understand that gel and dip are all the rage however these products have been hard on my natural nails and that is why I opted for just a manicure. I'm sorry but I won't be back. Pedicure is fine though. The pic below is from today Thur. morning. The manicure was done on Tue. night.

Absolutely awful. I'm upset that I spent that much money to have nails that looked worse than if I did them myself. Hairs were literally stuck in the paint as I was getting them done and I had to be the one to tell the nail tech otherwise they literally would have just let it happen. Same with smudges and anything else- if they made a mistake they didn't give a shit and just let kept going. I did gel nails, and the paint was smudged. Gel nails get cured with a light so that is obviously not my fault. While I was still there I pointed it out (still in the chair not even done with my nails) and they said it was too late. Later on I called saying I was very unhappy, there were mistakes, etc. and I just wanted to come in and have the gel taken off (when I should have honestly gotten them redone for free) and was treated very poorly on the phone. Save yourself and don't go here. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures before I took them off myself- which left my nails in awful shape. I didn't want to have to deal with going there again when they said they weren't sure if they could fix it or take it off (which makes NO SENSE)

I love this place! I was surprised to see negative reviews. I have been here several times and have always left incredibly happy. All of the technicians are very careful and thorough. My nails always look perfect and last for awhile! I took my mom and sister here awhile back and they both commented on how well they did. Shine is also very well priced! This is my go to nail place for sure. Love it!

Decided to go take a friend out to get her nails done for her birthday, we both got acrylics and they were absolutely not worth it. The lady who did our nails was very nice but did not know how to do acrylics correctly. When I asked her for a design she said confidently that she could do it but in reality did not even do what I wanted her to do. At first they looked fine but when I got outside of the nail salon they looked absolutely terrible. I felt awful for my friend because not only did she already have acrylics previously on and she wanted a fresh set, they did not soak off the acrylic but instead just ripped off the acrylics with one of the acrylic they first took off which is in sanely unsanitary and can ruin the nail bed, which she did. I paid $125 for these nails and it was absolutely not worth it I didn't even want to ask for a refund because I have never wanted to get out of there faster. I tried to soak off the nails once I got home but realized that not only are they basically cemented onto my real nails, they are incredibly thick and uneven so it is basically impossible for them to for my nails to be taken off now. So I have to now wait until my nails grow or until they fall off to get them off because I'm not risking the health of my nails anymore. Do not go to this place.

Twice now I've made an appointment and I have to wait 45minutes to an hour for the service to begin. They overbook and don't have enough help. While I waited for my service to start they started people that had an appointment after me and also walk ins. I would not recommend this salon!
