DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! They are THIEVES. If I could leave less than 1 star I would! My fiancé and are I purchased two massages and two pedicures from this company. We got the massages which were done by staff I don't believe were licensed therapists. The staff were nice enough but I have gotten better massages at my nail salon. We were then told that they didn't have the time for the pedicures so we could have to come back for them at another time. I called and made appointments and got in right away but when I told them we would be using the two pedicure credits on our account we were then told we could not be accommodated. When I explained that that sounded suspiciously like they didn't want to provide the services because they had already received the money for it, we were told they would call us back. When we were called back we were told we could apply some of the now devalued "credit" toward the pedicures but that their overhead prices had now increased since we had been there last so we would have to pay a difference in pricing. To me it sounded like this woman was just desperate to make an additional dime so I asked for our money back and I was told that she was "late for church" and then she hung up on me. The hypocrisy was not lost on me. What greedy crooks! Between the subpar services, the despicable customer service and lack of business ethics you are much better going somewhere else.

The one star is for the "Salon Educator's," personality. So let's start from the beginning. I went in desperate in need of help, I had extensions in and the stylist who put them in for me relocated. I walked into Shimmer and they removed them, I wanted to have new ones put in and was excited that it seemed like I had finally found a place that had a good amount of experience with it. The owner started matching my hair and it seemed like we found a match, I told them I wanted 22's not 16's. They then had me get some kind of hair treatment and a blowout which I didn't have time for or was planning on spending money on but I was just grateful that I thought I was in good hands. I was really excited to reinstall new ones with a team of stylists that were not going to mess up my hair. There is nothing like getting fresh new extensions in with a refreshed color and highlights. When I was checking out the were all over the place at the desk, there were three or four piles of extensions set on the desk, I got nervous and asked the receptionist if a set that did not look like what I agreed to order. She didn't really know and said "no I think those are for someone else." When my appointment came up I had strep throat and multifocal pneumonia and had to cancel, I was not happy that I had to miss this appointment at all but what are you supposed to do when you are that sick. I was also worried that they would take my deposit of $200, I don't invest in many things but when I am able I focus on my hair. I have been working with a high end salon for 15 years. The only reason I didn't have it done where I work is because we don't do extensions. Fast forward to my appointment, my mother just past away and I'm in the hospital trying to handle all everything along with emotions. I call Shimmer and the owner Grace says she sorry for my loss but her stylist had the day scheduled out for me. I felt really bad and told family and doctors I would be back that evening. I was not emotionally are comfortable pampering myself with all of this happening. Then I see the ratty used looking extension set out in a reddish and blonde color. I was really hoping that wasn't my extensions but as the stylist was highlighting and coloring he kept telling it was going to look so good. I told him I did not want red in my hair so he changed up the toner and when he put the color on my roots my head started burning. He took it off right away and put something else on. We had been there for 6 hours and when it was time for the extensions we both agreed it was not what I was looking for and based on my old extensions he said he asked her if she was sure that it was the right color. At that point we decided I would come in the next day to put the extensions in after he toned them, which takes away from the integrity of brand new extensions. He had some other guy blow out my hair, without a brush, all said and done my hair was yellow, green with a reddish brown root. There were rubber band marks from putting it up with what ever colored mask he put on it before I left the night before to tone down the red. I almost cried but didn't want to hurt his feelings. He then had some guy apply a pearl toner and again had me put it up soaking wet and go home with it. I asked him what the next step was I still didn't have what I went in there for the first place and he couldn't tell me anything, like we'll call you back when we correct this, nothing! So I asked him to come with me to the desk to talk to the receptionist and made an appointment but couldn't tell me what the appointment was for. After I got home I didn't touch my hair until the next day. It is now grey with highlights in a blue cast. I decided I did not want to damage my hair further so I tried to call and cancel but they're voicemail was full. I sent him a text and he said, " I understand," nothing about my extensions. I called the salon and spoke to the manager, btw their phone is her private home number apparently and she literally talked over me the whole time I tried telling her I wanted my money back, my hair went from yellow, green, grey to blue mush. No extensions. She continued to argue with me that the extensions that were red, a color I have never wanted in my life were the ones I picked and that she was afraid of me. They are stealing $200 of mine, I don't have my extensions at all and no refund. My hair looks awful. This place is the worst. I've never in my life talked to a business and owner this unprofessional. I have worked and been to many salons because I love it and I love where I work. These people are con artists. I'm calling fraud and thinking about calling my lawyer. This woman is disgusting. (Grace.)

I went in only one time and told them I didn't want to give them my phone number because I didn't want to get any spam calls or texts. They assured me that my number wouldn't be used for that. Then I got a spam text message from them a few months later.

I recently had my hair colored by their "color professional". Three days after my treatment I came down with a very bad, welt-like, rash and swelling on my face and neck.  I didn't know what it was but considered, poison ivy or food allergy. I felt nauseous and had a migraine quality headache.
After using poison ivy medicine and Benadryl with no success, I went to the dermatologist.  With a classic pattern of the rash not near my hairline but all over the rest of my face and neck, I found out it was hair dye allergy. The doctor prescribed a mild steroid ointment which has relieved the symptoms. Unfortunately, the symptoms can last up to weeks or months and can be life-threatening if a person has other allergies. Thankfully I have a severe but not life threatening case.
I have colored my hair for 40 years and never had an allergic reaction. I am not sure what they put on my hair, but I cannot trust them with another appointment.
I am writing this to warn others of what hair dye allergy symptoms are and  that a client can request PPD-Free hair color. These are hypoallergic but effective hair color treatments.

We went for a couples massage. I had a good massage my fiancée didn't. And we only got 70 minutes of our 90 min massage because they were running behind; we were there early as requested. We spoke to the front desk who had the massage therapists come out and ask us why we complained. We explained the issues and they offered for us to come back on them. They would include free upgrades too . To rectify the experience . We went back a month later . Had amazing massages . And a 230.00 bill at the end of the massage  !! The front desk said yeah sorry I thought that too, but the owner "set me straight " and said the upgrades were free not the 60 min massages. Which is also why she didn't take a deposit or ask for payment ahead of time as their normal practices. We said that's not what we were told . We paid the bill and left a good tip, as we did the time before. We were in a bit of shock, so we called shortly after we left, spoke to the same front desk woman who again agreed that she also had believed we were coming back on them as she was involved the first time we were there. And I asked for her to have the owner to call us back as they were unavailable at that time. The owner didn't not call us but again the massage therapist did call. She said yes you must have misunderstood. We we're giving u free upgrades but not a free massage. I was like wait we paid 230.00 plus tip to get 130.00 worth free upgrades for a massage u originally screwed us on ? Total between both visits to this loc we spent over 700.00 ! The management at this location is horrid at best. Absolutely would never visit again or suggest it to anyone.
