When I arrived to the salon parking is horrible. Walked into the salon, I noticed dust and spider webs everywhere. This salon needs a good cleaning. I asked for an $85 hairstyle but ended paying $190.00. I've never paid this much for my hair. While getting my hair done, 2 of the stylists LaQuisha (who was doing my hair) and Toya began arguing because someone called for a particular hairstyle and it was obvious neither one wanted to be bothered. This argument was taking place over my head and in my face. This screaming match lasted almost 15-20 minutes, in front of 4 customers. Then they went outside to argue more, I just wanted my hair finished. This was my first and last time going to this salon. If it had worked out, my sister, daughter and I would have become permanent clients. Before leaving I had to sit in my car and pray. Such negative energy!!!!

Here's my experience with this specific stylist. I was looking for a salon that does natural hair (I'm a Blk. female) and found Shearnanigans. I booked an appointment for a haircut and a wash-n-go on May 13 at 12:30. The stylist who did my hair is Quisha. After we met, we talked about what I wanted and I said a "wash-n-go." She seemed confused by the term. I had some major buildup from products I used in my hair that created a gum-like substance. She had to wash my hair about 5 times with a cleansing shampoo to get rid of it. Eventually we got about 90% out and it was onto the haircut. I told Quisha that while my ends needed trimming, I wanted to keep as much of my length as possible. She said "okay". I let her know the last time my hair was professionally cut was two years ago, but that I trim it almost monthly. Because of the amount of hair she cut, it seems she misunderstood me and thought I said it was two years since the last time my hair was trimmed at all. She made the first cut and THEN showed me how much she cut. I remarked how much shorter my hair was. She said I had a lot of bad ends that needed to go. I disagree; I knew there were bad ends, but NOT three+ inches worth of bad ends! I expected her to have tons of combs and brushes that would work well for my hair type (kinky-coily). She only used a regular toothed comb and a fine-toothed rat-tailed comb when she did my hair. Every time she raked through my hair with the regular toothed comb, it felt as though my hair was breaking. She didn't add any water to my hair to help with the combing. Whenever the comb wouldn't go that's where she cut it! After she finished, she went to another client. I looked on the ground and saw one third of my hair was gone. Before she butchered my hair, it was a little past my shoulders; now it only reaches the top of my ears! Done with her other client, Quisha came to style my hair. She gave me finger coils, when I asked for a wash-n-go. I dealt with it. Once my hair was dried, she started to unravel the coils. Quisha probably saw the disappointment in my face and asked if there was anything else she could do. I asked for bobby pins so that I could improve the look of the style I now had. I lied when I told her I'm okay with how it looks. But I wasn't; I should have been honest. She charged me $125 and I gave her a tip. I paid $135 for a haircut I don't like and didn't leave the salon until after 7:30 pm! I know she spent lots of time on my hair and should be compensated, but I'm not satisfied with the results. Extremely embarrassed by how my hair looked, I cried for days. I called the salon that following Saturday morning to tell Quisha. I left a message because she wasn't available. After no call-back from her, I sent a text. She called back later leaving two messages. In the messages she confused me for another customer and was very unprofessional and had an attitude. I called her back, but she kept interrupting me. This woman (about 15 years my senior) continually spoke over me and was very defensive. When I could talk, I told her my hair looks nothing like the pictures I showed her and that it looks bad. Also, that she did not show me how much hair she would cut until after she cut it and that my ends look worse now. She justified how she cut and styled my hair based on her 22 years of exp., that she treats all her clients the same and that she didn't give me a bad haircut. She ended the call abruptly saying she'd call me back. Later on we talked again. Although I was able to talk a little more about my upset, she was still unwilling to listen. She then said that stylists aren't always able to do hairstyles and I said if you knew you couldn't do it, you should have told me. There was no "I'm sorry" or even an offer to do a partial refund. I said I would be leaving a review. She snapped back "I'll go right behind you and tell "the truth"." What I've told you is the truth.

I am very surprised to see such a low rating for Shearnanigans salon. I have been here on a few occasions and each time was a great experience. Originally a friend of mine got a natural style done and it looked amazing so I decided to go for a silk press. Amazing. Lasted long. Very nice people. When i was in the chair, the owner, Toya was adding color to someone's hair and it looked great. I decided my next trip would be time for color. I called to see when she was available, she let me come in, within 45 minutes of calling and started my hair almost immediately. She had about 3-4 people in the time she was doing my hair and she balanced us all IMPRESSIVELY! She explained exactly what she was doing to my hair and answered all questions i had (which was a lot) and it came out better than i could have even imagined. She has my business now & in the future.
