Sharkey's Cuts for Kids Birmingham, Al in Birmingham, AL

We visited 10/17/23 @ 11:45am.  This was our 2nd attempt at this location in 1 week to get our little boy's haircut.  It was his 1st haircut, so it was an important one, and my husband even took off from work so he could be there.  When we arrived, there was no one (zero customers and no employees in the main lobby) in there.  About 1 minute after we walked in, a woman came around the corner (from the back area) and instead of greeting us warmly, she asked us if we had an appointment.  We told her no, and asked her if we needed one (because there was no one except us in there).  She proceeded to tell us that she was on her lunch (at 11:45am), and wouldn't be able to cut his hair until 1:15pm, because that's when her lunch ended (1.5+ hours later?).  We asked her why they even have the store open for business if they are just going to refuse customers when they come in.  She shrugged her shoulders and said she couldn't help us.  We left with our upset little boy (because he wanted to sit in the car), and 2 very upset parents (because we were refused service).  Needless to say, based on this horrible customer service experience, we will NEVER be back.  Save your time and money, and go somewhere where they actually want to cut your little one's hair.  A quick google search found 2 other similar kid's haircut locations - Pigtails & Crewcuts in Vestavia Hills, AL & Cookie Cutters Haircuts For Kids in Hoover, AL.  I bet they will be happy to take our money, while allowing us to actually enjoy our son's very first haircut experience.

We brought our LO in for his first haircut. We were unsure  but they ensured all COVID safety precautions were taken and we couldn't have been happier. The salon was very clean and I appreciated they all had their masks on when we entered.  They made everyone entering have a mask and spaced out the children so we were far apart. There were a ton of visual distractions for the kids. My LO loved the fun automobile seats and all the gadgets it had. Our stylist was quick, tender and patient. She should win an award for being the most flexible stylist. Of course our LO was squirming around but she just went with the flow. At one point our LO got fussy and without a beat another employee ran over with a balloon and it worked! The salon is top notch. We even received a certificate and they saved a lock of hair for me to have. We will be bringing our LO here in the future!
