Sara's Nails in Grand Rapids, MI

Ive always had a few things go not to plan during my appointments. I learned about this place from my mother because they always do such a good job for her but after hearing other peoples similar experiences to mine I will never go back again and I suggest you don't either. Usually I just sit back and trust the process because in my mind they are professionals and know what they are doing. However this last time I went was the last straw for me. My past experiences usually go like this, Good customer service and very polite workers however my nails only last about a week no matter what I get. I usually get dip because im currently on a natural nail growth mission. Occasionally I'll get tips as well. I almost always get chrome but the chrome usually chips or peels the same night only hours after the appointment. And the prices are way too high. I could get the same pedicure and manicure at a different place and not only does it last longer but Its also usually 10 dollars cheaper. My most recent appointment though was absolutely terrible I left the salon with my nails completely butchered. All I got was tips and dip removed. It started well the guy doing my nails didn't talk much but I don't mind because im more of an introvert. However it changed when he started filing my first three layers of nail off. When he initially removed the nails they were great and strong with no left over product on them however he proceeded to pull out the electric nail filer for the third time. I could feel him filing down to my flesh, it hurt a lot. of course I mentioned it but he continued without changing anything. At the end he asked if I wanted shape and I asked for Almond, when he started filing to shape them he couldn't even get them to almond and they stayed a sharp square because of how parchment paper thin they were. I ended up leaving the salon with nails that you couldn't even consider nails, they were very uneven, every tiny little bump would put me excruciating pain. Immediatly after I went and bought nail strengthener and growth serum and tried to fix them at home. I ended up having to cut my nails down to stubs because they were too painful and due to his horrible job my nails continue to rip down creating open wounds. Ive had acrylics and dip with tips removed before from other salons and they have NEVER been this painful or thin. My natural nail continues to bend even though it is down to the cuticle. The man that did my nails didn't even put cuticle oil on afterwards leaving them dry and uncared for.

I had 2 different techs for services this past Saturday. The lady that did my deluxe pedicure did a great job with everything except making sure the polish was even. I got a white/pink color so it shows the inconsistencies quite easily. This is the only reason I reduced by a star. It was $49 for this service. They give you a menu to choose from when you sit down. This included a scrub and a mint mask. The mask makes this service 100% worth the price as my legs are still incredibly soft 3 days later and with 3 showers. The second service was a dip manicure with extension tips. I had wanted just one color but changed my mind and asked for ombré. I am unsure what the cost of this ended up being as I changed service. Looking at the menu, I think it was $69. This tech did AMAZING and I wish I got her name for future services. She didn't like how one hand turned out and redid it. Honestly I would have never noticed it looking different. The extension tips were sized perfectly and cut down to my preferred length. The ombré is quite subtle since I wanted a light pink sparkle to a white tip.

What a wonderful find this salon was. I am from out of town and I found this place per a local's recommendation and was told to see Karina, and how lucky am I to have found a perfect nail tech. Its great to find a place in Grand Rapids that is a large, clean salon with wonderful service. I had a 10:30 appointment and was seated immediately. It was the best full set and pedicure I ever had and it was timely and a relaxing experience. Karina was extremely kind, sweet, and was engaging in conversation with me the whole time which was so refreshing. She did a killer job and was quick and could do this with her eyes closed. I would recommend her as she does over and beyond what I have been getting done for years and years- a very thorough job from start to finish. Thank you Karina!

upset to say i will never come here again. i normally go to JV nails on knapps but they do not do gel extensions so i called this place and specifically asked if they did gel extensions they said yes. when i got there they told me they did not and they could give me acrylics( if i wanted acrylics i would have gone to my normal place). as the process went on i asked for coffin shaped nails and they are ok shaped. but the part i am most disappointed about is he made them way too thick. i'm highly upset by my nails and now i have to go to the taylor swift concert with ugly thick nails. please save your time, money, and nails and pick somewhere different. JV nails is my recommendation!

Worst full set I have ever gotten. I showed the picture below to the nail person I had and then the other picture is what I received. Not even close. The shape was not only inaccurate but also inconsistent between each nail. They were also insanely thick and warped. I continually told the nail person how they weren't looking right and she just kept repeating that "your nail beds are different sizes, it's good" and wouldn't fix them. It was terrible. I immediately had to go to another salon right after (Alpine Nails) to have them removed and redone where they did an excellent job. I would never go back to Sara's Nails, it's a rip off.
