Salon Saloon in Traverse City, MI

I travel 250 miles to get my hair cut and colored there! I have no imagination when it comes to hair so I let my stylist (Cecilia) do what she does best and I have never been disappointed!

I just moved from NYC where I lived for 15 years and regularly spent $350 for a cut and 1/2 head of highlights. Cecilia just gave me the best cut and color I think I've ever had -- and lets just say it wasn't $350. Cecilia seems to be a remarkably talented woman. While my foils were in I eavesdropped as she coached her stylists about an upcoming hair show. Such a down to earth person but it seems also an auteur. But she spent a lot of time talking with me about my hair - and here's the shocker - listening to me! Yet another reason to love Traverse City...

I currently reside in Santa Monica, CA but grew up in TC. I came home to see some family for a few days and decided to try out Salon Saloon for a haircut. From beginning to end it was a great experience. I was greeted promptly on arrival and offered a beer, water, or coffee. This salon is attached to a brewery which I think is a neat connection. The salon has an open, modern, sleek feel with a lot of natural light spilling through huge windows. All of the staff keep clean, organized work stations and their Bumble and Bumble product line is displayed in a simple classy arrangement. Andy cut my hair and she did an excellent job. She is kind, and takes the time to communicate and listen before she even touches her scissors. She takes a lot of pride in what she does, has a clean eye for detail, and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. Price was extremely reasonable. I actually pay at least double in LA compared to what Saloon charges and the experience has never been nearly as fun and enjoyable. It is apparent that the staff at Saloon are all friends, which creates a warm energy that I think helps make their clients feel at home. Hats off to Salon Saloon!

Finding a new stylist can be so scary. Will our personalities jive? Will we have decent conversation? Will I like their personal style? Will I like the salon's vibe? Will I like MY haircut?? Well, the hubs and I appear to have hit it out of the park with Andi and Jessie here - we love them both! After having to grow my hair out for our recent wedding and not be able to do anything fun for a looooong time, I was REALLY looking forward to having a fun cut - and I got it! Andi did a great job and was a delight to hang out with for an hour. The hubs looked very handsome after his time with Jessie. And we both loved the vibe and level of service at the salon. Since the first cut I've come back for a bang trim which was quick and perfect. Oh, and the free beer from Right Brain is a plus :)

Very happy with my decision here. Ive lived here for a year and half and hadn't had my hair cut professionally since moving. Its almost daunting looking through the amount of salons in the area, but I went with based on a recommendation (and the beer doesn't hurt), and I'm happy I did. The atmosphere is very comfortable and everyone was very nice. Thanks for the great cut Jessi! I'll be back.
