Salon Marcel in Plainville, MA

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. I went here only because I got a gift certificate. It took 3 phone calls just to book the appointment. Marcel kept calling me back asking to switch the day because "his best guy was busy" and "I have the best stylist for your hair, he takes his time." He was referring to himself. I showed up and the salon was empty. In walks this elderly gentleman. I had a bad feeling right away. I asked for a TRIM and he had me stand up, he took large scissors with his shakey hands and made two blunt cuts in a V shape and said he was done. He cut off about 3 inches and it looked like a toddler did it. I begged him to fix it and he was offended. Saying "this is sexy, this is a haircut Men will love." I asked for the color to be my natural chestnut brown with sun kissed balayage on the ends. I showed him Pinterest photos and everything. He went in his own direction. I ended up with dark brown hair with red highlights. It took 4 hours to do this. He was inappropriate, unprofessional and probably needs to retire. He was even telling me that his entire staff quit and he wanted to hire a makeup artist if i was interested. (I am in the medical field). Do not go here.

The owner is the brother of the old owner of Blaine beauty school and his son works for him. I have gone to Christian for years and then when I moved I stopped going to him because he was so far away. I wanted to get my hair done and I wanted it nice so I decided to go back to Christian for a color and cut. I went in there wanting blonde hair and a V shape to my ends but to keep my hair long. After 4 hours later I walk out of there with almost black there with 4 bleached highlights that looked horrible. I ended up calling up the next day to see if it can be fixed. I went in the next day and after another 4 hours in the chair I ended up with my hair all one color and it was almost black. My hair was almost down to my butt and all I wanted was about 2 inches off the length and then the V shape to it and my hair was cut straight across and it was about 2 inches below shoulder length. I was quite pissed that he cut off so much when I have been growing my hair out for years. If you want a stylist to listen to you, don't go to Marcel's French Connection because they don't listen and the stuff that comes out of their mouths there would make you think a psyco is cutting your hair.

With a daughter as my hairstylist with a full schedule and the need for me to take a day off of work to go see her in town, I needed to find a salon that she would recommend and who would use the same color product she has been, successfully, using on me nearby. Tada! Lori Ann Smith at Salon Marcel. My new BFC (best friend colorist). Bless her heart, she took what Kait told her and amped it up and made me feel like a queen and not just an unknown, rather specific, person having her roots touched up. Awesome talent, infectious personality and lot's of amenities at this hidden jewel on Manmar Drive in lil ole Plainville MA. I am going back for her other services- which are numerous, and will keep up my every hair in between visits to Boston. I think the spa pedicure with individual paraffin treatment sounds like my next splurge. Check out Salon Marcel and tell Lori and Marcel I sent you!
