Rosetta's is excellent my husband has been coming here forever and drives over an hour to have Joe cut his hair.  Joe always does the best job he says and doesn't want to go anywhere else.  He is super funny and a nice guy.  Excellent hours.

Just last week, Joe cut my hair for what must be at least the 20th time. Although I've been to Cost Cutters, Super Cuts, Great Clips - ugh, and the Hair Cuttery, Joe consistently offers the best cuts that I've had. Even though I wear my hair in 1970s and '80s semi-punk rock-style, he's able to make it work, while keeping it styled. After he's cut the hair, and it starts to grow back in again, is when you can see how good his work really is. He provides little extra touches, like cleaning-up the eyebrows, and removing excess nostril-hair.

Joe has a fun personality, and he's proud of his Italian heritage. He is knowledgeable about many things, including food. Somewhat of an old-school barber shop atmosphere, with lots of successful business-types stopping in for a cut. Sometimes, some of the unusual neighborhood people come wandering in with bizarre requests and/or comments. Well worth the $20 fee.  Overall, I highly recommend Joe at Rosetta's.

"Hey Paisano!"

Be prepared to be greeted with that line. Moving on, Joe is what I consider a true barber. A true barber will remember you name, will listen to your problems, tell you his, maybe tell you more of his that you would like to hear, and every time you go in he knows where you left off. that's Joe.

I have been to many salons/barber shops over the years, paying anywhere from $10 to $500 dollars for a hair cut (yes, I was young and careless once), but I have never been as pleased with a cut as much as I have been with Joe.

Is he a perfect barber you may ask?
bluntly I say; NO! but he is as good as it gets.

I do agree that walking into his shop feels  as if you walked into the episode of The Sopranos, but its more in a comical way rather than in "im gonna lose my life way".

Be prepared though to spend some time while you are there, Joe loves to chat. Also if his phone rings he will pick it up and chat away... Also regular neighborhood folks will casually stroll in asking Joe for a hand out, and this can also run some time on the clock. If these are his biggest faults, I'll take it.

Joe cuts hair just fine. I have been using him for nearly ten years now. Even though I no longer live in Hartford, I stop by for a cut if needed whenever I am in town. Yes, he's the only guy working in the shop, but it's his place--who cares if he doesn't have others there or not?

Unlike the metrosexual shops that cost 100-200% more than his, you get a great cut by someone who knows how a man wants his hair cut. He's around on the weekend and early in the AM on weekdays, to take care of the physicians who regularly patronize him, myself included.

I thought this guy was a professional because he had been there for, like 60 or so years. He's the only one in there with, like 8 barber chairs(talk about being greedy and not wanting to share the wealth by hiring other barbers) I'm guessing he just does it to kill time, as his regular customers tend to pay him $40 bucks for the BS haircuts he gives them. I would never have paid the $20 for the sh*tty haircut he gave me, but out of courtesy(and probably pitty that he's got so little clientele) I just gave it to him and a five dollar tip. I thought he was cool, but then I find out he talks too much about the same thing and it gets old after a while. He's Sicilian so he keeps talking as he was a Gambino or something. He'll tell me about all the high-end people he's given a hair cut to,  yet the people I see coming to see him tend to be working class folks, nobody important. My guess is it's just a ruse to impress someone. I'm not easily impressed by people like this, with this grandiose character they're tryint to present to me. anyways. he gives me my flopped haircut, and then he proceeds to trim my eye brows as if I had telepathically asked him to. I swear I wanted to kill him when he did that. I will never go back to him. He sucks big time and cuts your hair the way he wants to. tries to play it off by chatting you up. Most of his clients tend to be older folks who just go there to shoot the sh*t, they even TALK about the bad haircuts he's given them. It's amazing that they let him get away with it still pay him. I don't know, but I don't like barbers that think they know how to cut hair, yet do a sloppy job at it. for that I can cut my hair at home, and I have and did a better job than him. His prices are too high and he's the only f*cking barber in there with, like 8 barber chairs. If he hired better barbers he wouldn't complain so much about his tenants not paying the rent where he's renting. Washing my hair also doesn't exclude the fact that his charging me $20 justifies the f*cked up job he did on my head. I will never go back to "Jo" because of this God-aweful experience. I'll go to the one across the Butterfly restaurant up the street in West Hartford. atleast he charges me less($15) and won't give me a bad job.
