RI Rainbow Nail Spa in Barrington, RI

1st visit was a decent experience with Coco. Gel Pedicure and my friend had a manicure.  manicure ended with a hot towel neck massage which we were told is included with manicures.
1 month later Coco no longer works there ( I don't have to wonder why )
so I booked a gel manicure with "the male owner ". Do yourselves a favor.  don't ever !
it was hardly a manicure. He filed my nails , never soaked them and attempted to use a dirty Cuticle cutter on my cuticles ~ dry No water ever, no oil. He painted them ( not well ). He surely can not do a French and laughed at me and said NO when I told him the width of the French I wanted and he also would not do 2 coats of top coat.  He thinks he should make your nails look the way he wants to.  At the end he put a blob of lotion on my hand and patted it twice and was done ~ not the slightest bit of exaggeration ! He said you're done.  I asked about the hot towel massage and he said No !  I said It comes with the manicure. However, at this point I didn't want such a rude and clearly unsanitary person touching me any longer. The woman getting a manicure  next to me just finished hers with the neck / shoulder massage. I was charged and paid full price 45.00 and for the first time in my life I chose to not leave him a tip. Usually I tip 20-30% everywhere I go. He didn't even deserve full payment since I didn't get full service. I left without tipping and will never return.  As I walked away he yelled and I mean yelled at me. THANKS ! HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE DAY ! It's taken me many years to learn to not waste my time with such ignorant people and just walk away..  So rather than turn around and put him in his place I decided he will sink his own ship.
So here's To him ~. Here's your tip.  Provide the full service you are getting paid for , do it properly and be kind and you will be tipped.  Scam people, treat people poorly, use dirty tools and you lose customers, Not just me but every person I know. Now I know why there are so many bad reviews on line-they are all true. Not getting a tip shouldn't be your worry~ keep treating people so poorly and you'll be out of business.

The worst manicure I have ever had. My manicurist (woman with dyed blonde hair) didn't even soak my hands in warm water or apply a cuticle remover / softener, she just pushed back my dry cuticles with a metal spatula which was painful. Then she went after them with a cuticle scissor in a choppy fashion, leaving them ragged like I had been chewing on them. And this was a manicure I made an appointment for, not just a rushed walk-in!

They also don't appear to be disinfecting their tools, as the manicurist just wiped off the cuticle scissors after using them. Yes it's cheap, but you run the risk of a bad infection. Stay away!!

I had the worst experience. They don't have acrylic at their salon (which should have been made clear to me when I made the appointment for an acrylic fill...) when I sat down I was told that they didn't have acrylic but she could fill my nails with sculpting gel instead, so I opted to give it a try. It wasn't even 24 hours later and my nails were already lifting. I went back and was given a refund and went to the always trusty Jazzy Nails in Warren (always reliable, I should have just gone here in the first place but that's my fault). Turns out mixing acrylic powder and sculpting gel is a recipe for ruined nail beds! It took the nail tech at Jazzy at least half an hour to remove what was on my nails and underneath was extremely brittle. I've been getting acrylic for years and have never had this experience. Safe to say that I will never be returning here again.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place is horrendous and I tried to come several times to see if maybe it was just one bad experience but it was not. The gel kept being streaky and peeling and all my nails broke off. They shave off all your nail so their ultra thin. Go anywhere but here.

The pedicure polish peeled off after 5 days. (See photo) This was my first time using Rainbow (I usually go to Aloha) and the experience of getting the pedicure was wonderful - the place was clean, the nail tech was friendly and attentive. I had planned to write them a great review. So I was surprised to see the paint coming off. I went back in and very politely asked if they could touch up the toes that looked the worst. The man I spoke with laughed at me - literally, he just laughed and said I shouldn't expect it to last longer than 5 days unless I ask for gel. I told him I have used OPI in other salons for years and expected the OPI polish from Rainbow to last just as long as from other places... usually it's about 2 weeks (sometimes 3) before it starts chipping. He laughed at me again and told me to go back to the salon I used before - which I absolutely will! I'm shocked - I can't remember the last time I had such horrible service!! He laughed at me, honestly, I'm still shocked... it is gutting to have someone laugh at you in public.
