I needed to share this horrible experience I had at the Raybourns family hair center. I took my 4 year old son for the 2nd time there to get a haircut. The first time, we had an amazing experience so I decided to go again. The lady who did his hair by the name of Malika, the moment my son sat in her chair, she had an issue with him. She was extremely rude to him, not friendly at all, and made him literally cry.

When she started cutting the back of his neck, I noticed he would put his shoulders up and his head tucked in. He did it twice and she melts saying very aggressively "I'm not hurting you so stop". I didn't think anything of it at first. Until he did it again and I then noticed that he was crying. We aren't talking about a bratty "I don't wanna be here cry". He was silently crying with tears coming down. He had hair all over his face that she was not wipping. The entire time she was cutting his hair, she kept repeating to him aggressively to stop moving but he was moving because her clippers were BURNING his neck!

I finally got him to calm down and she proceeded with the cut. Not even a min later, I hear her snap her clippers off and just as I looked up from my phone after checking the time, she swung his chair aggressively to face her and said "okay now I'm gonna need you to stop because at this point, you're doing it on purpose". My son looked up at her like he was so confused as to what was going on. She grabbed him and scooted him back onto the chair. He is a tiny 4 year old so he was slipping off the chair. At this point, I was fed up. But she was done. She didn't wipe any hair from his face, didn't put any powder on his neck, and completely butchered his hair. When we got in the car, I noticed my sons neck and she burned him with her clippers, hence why he was tucking his head and raising his shoulders and started crying. So she KNEW what she did and instead of changing the clippers out, she continued to use them, causing these burns.

I'm typically not a confortational person. But this was totally unacceptable . I got her name and the managers number to speak to her tomorrow. But I just wanted to warn other parents with children to NEVER use this lady or even this location to get your children's hair cuts.

I contacted the manager and she was very apologetic and offered a refund. To which I turned down as I just want this stylist to be reprimanded for her unacceptable behavior. If you use this place, just stay away from this stylist all together. ESPECIALLY If you have kids.

I usually have someone that cuts my hair, but at the time he was busy.  I had called last minute and the staff was super nice and was able to take me in for a haircut.  Also the lady that cut my hair was super nice and outgoing.  Nice environment and was a great visit!!

Went in to get my kids haircuts and was directed to the "walk in" side. No problem except the walk in side looks like a dump. The stylists were shopping for bras and barely spoke to the clients. One's hands were shaking so bad I was scared for my daughters hair. Sure enough she came out looking terrible. My other daughters bangs were obviously crooked but the stylist wanted to go back to bra shopping so she only spent about 4 minutes on my daughters hair. I will never be back for any reason.

Alicia is great and experienced stylist, it didn't take long for her to shampoo and cut my hair, about 45 minutes which isn't bad. She's a great conversationalist and will make you laugh. The price isn't bad for the cut and service I received here. First haircut in the south and the experience was great! Definitely recommend Alicia.

I'm a stay at home mom who was looking to feel like me again, so I made an appt and was excited about finally getting my hair cut. I walked in for my appt on time and was directed to a stylists chair. Meanwhile a lady who I thought was another client, was talking on her phone with a hair cap on sitting under the dryer. I almost walked out right then because I was shocked at how unprofessional it was to be doing your own hair while still accepting clients- that's something you should do after work! But, against my better judgment, I waited in the stylist's chair for about 2 min while she finished up her conversation. She came over to the station where I was waiting, put down her cigarettes, and half eaten Twix, pulled hair out of a brush and put it back in a drawer and then turned my chair so she could do my wash. (I was really hoping the drawer she put the brush into was designated for dirty brushes, I was wrong) Before my wash she asked what I wanted and I said I was looking for some input I normally do long layers, all she responded was ok I see that they're grown out. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 was the wash was nice and she dried in my ears when she was done. However, the entire time she didn't say a single word to me, and it made me feel really unwelcome. After the wash she dried my hair, again, not saying anything other than telling me to sit up and scoot forward. She sprayed a bunch or stuff in my hair after the wash, trying to make conversation I asked what it was, her response was 'leave in conditioner called milkshake.' That was it, not saying anything open ended for me to respond back with... doesn't it smell good, it's one of my favorites, NOTHING not even trying to sell me on a product I was clearly interested in. At that point I gave up trying to talk and realized I was getting a hair cut and nothing more. Then, she took out a pack of gummie bears and the brush she was pulling hair out of before my appt. She ATE the gummies in the middle of my service and was about to brush my hair with the dirty brush with someone else's hair in it! She also had a comb in her had that I assume was dirty as well because it didn't come out of the barbicide jar on her station- the sanitizing jar didn't have a single comb in it. I asked her if she had a clean brush and she said it was. I told her I saw her pulling hair out of it and put it in her drawer before she washed me and there was still hair in it, she tried saying it was mine. So I said how can it be mine when you haven't brushed mine yet?? Seriously?! At that point I was done I offered to pay for the wash at the front desk but was told I didn't have to. The lady at the desk asked me if everything was ok so I explained all the reasons I was leaving and in the middle of my explanation she checked out another client and I'm not even sure if she heard the rest of what I was saying to her and the stylist. I finished talking and just left, I would not recommend going here.
