Palace Flophouse Salon in Grand Rapids, MI

I've been switching back and forth between Palace Flophouse Salon and the salon I've always gone to as a kid up until now. However, after the last two visits, I'll be sticking to Palace Flophouse! The staff is always so kind, helpful, and in a cheery mood. I get my hair done by Aubrey and she's literally the best. I'm super introverted and shy, but Aubrey always makes me feel super comfortable! She's super friendly and funny, and she's an amazing hair stylist! Every haircut I've had done by her has always succeeded my expectations. If you ever want to book an appointment, book with Aubrey! :-)

Della is a doll - highly recommend! I came in with a deflated 'do and walked out with a chic French bob. The salon seems to specialize in transformations- lots of edgy bangs, shags, and mullets but I'm a boring middle-aged lady and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Progressive vibe, impressive sustainability practices. Good energy all around!

I'm really lazy about getting my hair cut, plus COVID happened and salons were closed for a long time, but I was just starting to get so sick of my hair that I made an appointment last winter at Palace Flophouse Salon for a chop. I liked the ease of scheduling online and their COVID policies were great. Masks were required in January 2021 and my temperature was taken upon arrival. I was asked if I wanted anything to drink which I think is such a nice touch. Services offered at Palace Flophouse Salon include cut, color, styling, extensions, waxing, lash and brow services, and bridal hair/makeup. I was really happy with my haircut even after washing it a few times and learning how to style short hair again. My stylist was very polite and listened to what I wanted. I was in a bit of a chatty mood and was hoping to have a bit more conversation, but maybe she just wasn't feeling it that day. Pricing varies based on each stylist's level and I think I paid about $50 which is average for the haircuts I've had in the past. I paid to park on the street across from the salon, but you can sometimes find free street parking in the area if you're willing to hunt and walk a bit.

I've never felt so seen and heard when it came to a haircut for my fine curly hair. HALI not only listened but asked all the right questions. KIM did a terrific job with my color as well. She checked in with me during the process and again...made me feel confident that I could replicate the look. They've gained a forever client with me.

This was my second visit to the salon and first hair cut since quarantine. PFS has amazing COVID procedures! I felt very safe getting my hair done. While waiting for my color to process you can wait out in the green space area which is nice to get a little breather from the mask. I saw Chelsea this time and I had no idea what I wanted but she talked to me and figured out what I wanted when I didn't even know. I am I love with my hair. I saw Madison last time and she was also an amazing stylist. (Only ended up switching due to scheduling). This salon is a little pricey but it's worth it with great hair and safety! No matter who you see this is amazing salon!
