NYC BEAUTY SALON LLC in Mesa, AZ

Went to this place thinking they were going to do a quality job with the amount of money it costs. However, it was terrible. They really chopped my hair off, and it looked absolutely awful. Didn't do anything I asked them to do. Would never recommend them to anyone. Do not go there.

I recently relocated to the Phoenix area and was referred To NYC beauty salon by a new coworker.
I was ecstatic to call and find out that they take walk-ins and I could get in the same day. I am Half African-American and half Dominican. I have 4B/4C, shoulder length, thick hair. I know I  have a lot of hair so I have become accustomed to tipping extremely well and I'm also understanding if there is an up charge because my hair is so thick. However, the stylist that Started out doing my hair (who I come to later find out is the owners daughter) Made several references about the thickness and length of my hair and it was clear that she really didn't want to do it. After she rinsed the deep conditioner out, she put me back under the dryer without any detangling or adding a drop of product so that it could "air dry a bit". My hair was became dry and tangled. After getting me out of the dryer and starting the process of blowing my hair out, she did not part it into sections to give her better manageability and Instead of using a round brush she used a rat tail comb. She got maybe 1/4 of the way and then passed me over to the other stylist (her mother) who did an okay job although I've had sleeker blowouts with fewer flat iron passes. The lack of professionalism and subpar service is not the reason for my review. My review is based on the outlandish pricing structure. I looked at the pricing on their website and it's no where near what I was charged. The blowout was $80, deep conditioner $25 , flat iron $24 ... never have I ever paid for a blowout and been charged an additional fee for flat ironing. If there was an up charge for thickness and length that should have been relayed and I would have understood. But to receive subpar service and have a blowout priced a la carte is ridiculous.

Stay away from this salon. Taylor and her mom( owners) are scammers. They don't list their prices, don't give receipt and charge outlandish prices and only want cash. Sounds like all the bells and whistles of people who scams and don't want to report their earnings to the IRS.

VERY NICE PEOPLE. Clean. Lots of beautiful plants! Love my hair. I will take a photo next time. I did not want to put off my review. The owner did not want to do anything that she did not think I did not need. Talk about honesty!  I walked out with a roller set and shampoo and shiny silky bouncy hair! I was refused service
I called and asked if there was any availability for a men's haircut walk in. "Yes, we're actually really slow."

I am male but I wear effeminate clothing. When I showed up there were three workers and no clients and it was nowhere near lunch or closing time.

They told me they couldn't cut my hair because they don't have clippers. I explained that I didn't want my sides cut and I was looking for an effeminate woman's style hair style and wouldn't need clippers.

I don't understand why you would refuse my money with an empty salon.
