Modern Nails Studio in Grand Rapids, MI

Even though I had no polish on my nails the technician used a drill bit which damaged my nail bed. She filed my nails and made it flat on top and rounded on the edges even though I asked her to do it rounded. She didn't even push down my cuticles. I asked for clear nail polish and after I left it started peeling off. There was a young boy running around the salon and he actually laid on my daughter's leg while she was having a pedicure. Not very friendly and they speak no English. You can see from the picture that the nail polish had a rough texture as well. It is not acceptable.

I tried this nail salon out for my bridal shower the next day. I chose this salon based on "good" reviews and the fact that they did dip nail extensions. I made an appointment online and had several confirmation texts that my appointment was at 12pm. So when I got there I told the man I had an appointment at 12 and the guy argued with me a little bit insisting my appointment was at 1pm but you know I got 3 confirmation texts for 12pm so I showed him that. They had someone doing my toes for about 30 minutes. I picked a very muted pink color. Then for my hands I asked about dip extensions- they had someone else doing my nails instead of the woman who did my feet which was okay. The lady who did my hands did not even ask about dip extensions or what color of dip powder I wanted and just gave me the most basic "no color" dip powder. So now I have a "clear coat" of dip powder on my nails and some of them are a bit more bubble like than others. I thought my feet were fine and then the next day something dropped on my food and smudged toenail polish which means that my toe polish was put on too thick. Will not be returning here for nail services.

Vi did an amazing job on my nails!! She really shaped them down to perfection and met all of my needs. They suggested adding a base coat under the clear sparkles but complied when I said I wasn't looking for that kind of look. Love them... will be back!!

Sooooo. This was an interesting visit. I chose this nail salon because of the reviews on Google. (4.6 with 250 reviews) We set up an appointment online, was confirmed through text, reminder texts - all fantastic and super convenient. However. We show up for our appointment ("group" pedicure for my mom and me) and there's only one person ready to start on my mom's feet. No problem. I sit and hang out and wait with my feet in a bath. Meanwhile, a child is running around turning off lights, running behind pedi chairs, trying to throw color samples into the foot baths, etc. Understandably, childcare is expensive and can't leave him home. That wasn't the issue. The woman providing the pedi for my mom was constantly interrupted during her (less than) 30 min pedicure - skipping the cuticles, no foot/calf massage of any kind, giving her only one layer of (sloppy) polish/no topcoat. Then left her at the chair after chasing the child into a back room, not coming back to finish anything - no communication. When it was my time to receive my pedi, I soaked a bit before she started. The nails were cut jagged without being filed, no cuticle treatment, no foot scrub on the bottom of my feet or rough spots on my heels/big toe, BUT I did get a sugar scrub on my shins (whyyyyy?) so rough I was wincing and pulling my legs back from her hands. She continued to massage my legs so hard and rough I had bruises on my calves for a week. My white toenail polish was layered on maybe 4 layers and a clear coat on top, messy asf. She cleaned up the polish all over my toes with her nail, digging into my toes under my nails, also painful. I was then sent to the fans to dry, without instructions of how long or a timer or anything. Just kinda sat there til I thought it was dry enough and asked if I could pay and leave. My mom and I just kept giving each other looks like WTF because it was an experience we couldn't make up. I walked out not happy about the final product (for my feet or my mom's feet) or the experience as a whole.

Great experience - first time here. They offer a lot of different pedicures and their prices are very reasonable - I had Kim - she was super nice - will definitely be back!
