MJD & Co Hair Design in Keene, NH

I liked this place. Very friendly and nice. Will be coming back for sure. They moved to a new location in the Center of Keene.

My husband went for a haircut., just a simple cut. They charged him $30 for a haircut that turned out terribly, and took double the time it typically takes to cut his hair. We have been there 4 times prior to this a loved our hair, and were charged less. This time however it looks like he got into a fight with a lawnmower. We have family pictures this weekend, but we may have to reschedule.

I've been a long term client of MJD for about 8 or so years, and either the service has gone downhill or I have just really started noticing it. You may find a few good stylists that work there, but I have only found one that I really liked and she left awhile ago. Their prices have gone way up in the past 2 or 3 years, and the service that they provide is not worth the amount that you are paying. I went to get my hair color touched up, and after the first junior stylists botched it up (you could still see the lines where the old color stopped and started throughout the years), I called to get it redone and they gave me a hard time to get it an appointment quickly. The other girl that fixed it, made the color a little better, however, there was still a noticeable difference in the shades of my hair and a clear line where it stopped. She told me it was going to turn out like that and there wasn't anything she could do. That visit will be my last one to this salon.

I went in to get sunkissed highlights, meaning I wanted a slight highlight to my dark hair.. meaning NOT blonde highlights. Apparantly the hair dresser decided that bright blonde was what I was looking for even though I stressed that I did not want a drastic highlight. She even dyed my bangs blonde, I looked like an 90's teenage punk rocker, and it cost me $115 for it.

I called them back to reverse the mess they did to my hair (only because they are the only salon open on Sundays and I'm leaving for vacation in 2 days), and the girl at the front desk literally laughed at me when I asked if they could re-dye it back to my natural color and said they don't pick out the highlights and dye them back - There are plenty of salons that will do this, just not the ones open on Sunday!!

This comment does not only apply to their coloring, they also cut off 2 inches of my hair when I said only a quarter of an inch, and it was a choppy hair cut at that. They are rough with your hair, and they have no idea how to cut or color or pretty much anything.

I urge you to find another place to go for a cut or color!

I love a place that puts 'Design' in their name, especially in New Hampshire. Shows you that even country folk like there to be some art to their haircuts and manicures!

I came here for the first time about 3 years ago after a friend recommended this place to me. She said "It's kind of pricey, but they do a really good job". To me, pricey meant $75-100 for a haircut. At MJD it only costs me like $25. I guess people around here are used to doing to the strip mall haircutting places that charge $10!

Anyways, MJD is a cut (hehe, get it?!) above the rest of the salons around Keene. In fact, I'll go as far to say that it's my favorite salon that I've ever been to! I don't know what it is, but the girls there have never given me a bad haircut. I'm the type of girl who goes for style changes from one haircut to the next, and each time I get my haircut I always get it a little different. For the past 3 times I've gone to MJD I had Jess as my haircut artist and she's just fantastic! She's only like 21 or 22 but she's really good. In the past I've had other girls (forget their names now) and they were great too. This place is my favorite because the people there are so nice, they are talented at what they do, and the prices are great (for me at least). I'm going to be sad when I graduate from college in the area and have to head off to pricier and ruder salons...
