MICHAEL Urban Hair Studio in Sarasota, FL

Is there anything BELOW one star? I have used this guy.....NOT STYLIST.....for a year or two because I knew I would go back to New Jersey & they would always fix it. WHY did I continue to use Michael? He is funny & endearing. But he certainly cant cut hair. This past time, he made a mess of the cut. I called him to redo the damage he had done. As always he is charming & gracious he cut it WORSE than before!!! That is the last time for me.

I have been seeing Michael for years. He is a an expert with both color and cut. My color is a deep magenta which is not an easy color to achieve and my hair cut is a short, precision cut that requires a master. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

I am visiting from out of town + found this great salon. Michael did an exceptional job on my hair color by doing my roots as well as highlights and lowlights. My hair looks exceptional - better than ever, healthy and full of texture! Michael is a true professional + he knows exactly how to match the hair color to your skin and eye color so it compliments your face! I have never had such attention to detail with my hair + he styled it beautifully! Wow!

Bride hair trial- he had great reviews so I decided to give him a try. Great salon, he is super nice. I showed him the picture of what I wanted (very simple updo), he said that he could do it. I went with my hair clean and straight. He had me sitting down for 3 hours and didn't know what to do with my hair. Did something completely different than what I asked him to do (I had my phone open with the picture the whole time). I asked him to try again. Another hour passed, he still couldn't do it and I decided to ask him to stop the trial. I was so frustrated but ended up paying $75, for basically nothing. He said to come back and that he will do it all over again and that it was going to be a "complementary" trial. (Yeah sure!) he never answered my calls, text, voicemails. I feel like he basically stole my money!

Let me first say I have been following my hair stylist, Lindsey Heigert from one salon to another. The last place she was working at, I had gone to because I love her work on my hair, but the owner was not nearly so pleasant to interact with as Michael is. She started working at Michael Urban Hair Studio months ago and I have been coming every few months now to get my hair done. I hope she will stay at this salon for a while because, while I will follow her wherever she goes, this is a great salon in my opinion. She is fantastic, and such a doll, but Michael is a great guy himself- I have seen him work on several clients in the chair over from me and thus far I have not seen nor heard any complaints. He also invites a lot of conversation with me and my other half when we are in the salon, and he is always happy to chit-chat. I have no complaints whatsoever about my experiences there so far. The environment is classy, sophisticated, yet modern and very inviting. They are all really relaxed, friendly people. Michael, Paul and Lindsey are wonderful (current staff.) All three keep me entertained throughout the whole visit, however long, and are extremely personable- Lindsey and I have known each-other for about a year or so and as I mentioned I followed her from her last place of work. Price point for hair is not breaking the bank. I don't go as often as I should to keep up with the colors I like to have done, I get color done, cut and shampoo, but that aside, it is not as expensive as I have seen other places as high quality and professional as this salon. Very professional services and business-place, I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for gorgeous work- dyed hair, cuts, etc. Lindsey is on Facebook and has some pictures of her past work, I believe including my hair, I'm certain some of it is displayed on her professional page, I'm not certain I have any decent pictures i'd like to add to this review but if you find Michaels Urban Hair Studio on Facebook you'll get a taste of the place- some more pictures, etc. Other reviews as well. Truly a great place, and I am SO looking forward to my next visit in a month or two. I can't make this a huge review because I would just be repeating myself a million times- it's simply an awesome, inviting salon with great employees and owner. Can't wait for my next visit!
