Melissa Smith Studios in Westminster, CO

Melissa has been my hair stylist for 8 years.  She is skilled in cuts, color and perms.  I've had all done by Melissa and all have looked great.  She takes great care to make sure products (perms and colors)  do not damage my hair.  There have been a couple times I've called for a last minute appointment and she has always worked around my schedule.  I am surprised at the number of negative comments I've read about her.  That is not the Melissa Smith I know.

I had scheduled appointment's on two different occasions and the first occasion she called several days after I  showed up for the  appointment to tell me that she had been "out of town".  The second appointment I was scheduled at 2:00 and while I was on my way to her salon she called and told me that she had an A meeting  to attend because her friend was caught up in a bad "deal". I told her that's fine and that I understand then several hours later she texted me to tell me that she did this because I cancelled on her 5 years ago. Very unprofessional screaming profanities for some simple appointment.  There are many hairstylists in Colorado you do not need to go to this one... You will be disappointed by the unprofessionalism and bad business practice that she offers.

I booked Melissa for a Brazilian Blowout which is an intense two and a half hour process of formaldehyde chemical treatment and straightening. I knew what I was getting myself into having had one before with the fumes that burn a little and the long process. Melissa was 20 minutes late starting the appointment and did not "listen" (like she claims to on her website) to me at all before throwing my head under the faucet and roughly washing my scalp. I told her I didn't want to over straighten and completely lose my curl pattern, (the process is somewhat permanent) and she did the opposite. And the fumes OH MY GOD. The way her salon is set up she doesn't have any cross breeze so the fumes lingered the entire appointment and burned my eyes, nose and throat. It was not up to safety standards and downright awful. She was also rude and talking very opinionated about politics...not a relaxing professional blowout by any means.

I was looking for a new hair stylist.  Melissa came highly recommended so I booked an appointment for an new client consultation and cut.  I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment where I found 1) she was just getting started on another appointment and 2) she had incorrectly scheduled me for a consultation, not the consultation and cut I had requested.  Melissa claimed that I had texted her and canceled my appointment which obviously I had not.  She did offer to squeeze me in later that day, after I had already scheduled my day around the appointment I made for the morning.  I'm sorry, I want more professionalism from my stylist.  I'll continue looking.

Melissa has been cutting and coloring my hair for 5 years. She is professional  expert in coloring and a genuinely wonderful person. I highly recommend her.
