Lucy Hair Salon in Pleasant Hill, CA

Unreliable and unprofessional. I called on Saturday to make an appointment for Monday for a haircut. Not sure who I spoke with since it was my first call with them but a lady confirmed the appointment time and asked for my name too. That seemed easy enough...but when I went in for the appointment, all the hairstylists there said they were busy and didn't bother to look that I made an appointment. They told me to come back in two days. That was very rude and I will never go back.

I have been going to Lucy for the past few years for all of my cuts, colors, and styling. I come back because I always feel comfortable in her chair. She is also easy to communicate with. It's difficult for me to find someone to trust with my hair, I am very particular and I have high standards! And that's why I will keep coming back to Lucy :)

PSA: One of the reasons I booked Lucy is because I also check out her 22 excellent reviews that are under the "not recommended" section because of Yelp's ridiculous algorithm. Check them out if you're still on the fence. Lucy is experienced, creative, and professional - I also need to mention she's the sweetest! I will ONLY be going to her from now on. If you care about your hair, let Lucy work her expert magic on you! Background: As a young professional (25 yrs old), I wanted a trendy brunette balayage. My mistake, I went to a terrible stylist that completely ruined my hair. It looked good for a couple of days, but then after the first wash all I had was a fried, messy, uneven head of straw. Enter Lucy! I miraculously found her by word of mouth. I called, explained my situation to her, and she took care of me at first "Hello!". I quickly booked my emergency appointment. I made sure to tell her as much as I could about my hair coloring history. She gave me a fresh cut, redid the uneven balayage, toned out the brassiness, and most importantly repaired/restored the softness and luster in my hair with a treatment she whipped up herself. I am so in love with the color, it's gorgeous and unique. I keep getting compliments from everyone! Her pricing is very reasonable, she explained the process thoroughly to me, and taught me a lot about hair care and styling at home as well. Thank you so much Lucy for saving my hair! Can't wait to see you again soon!!!

I'm very disappointed after my whole experience with Lucy. First time and NEVER AGAIN. Lucy was not upfront with how much she'd charge for a hair cut, she smooth talked and stated that I'd Not be over charged, and that she would work until the client is happy, and "money back guarantee", and her work is art. I made a wrong decision in listening to all of this "self pride" and let her cut my hair. Lucy does not respect client's privacy and does not listen to her client. She would not let me finished telling her how I wanted my hair to be cut, the style and all, she kept telling me she knows what she doing, to trust her. While cutting my hair, she kept commenting that I had a lot of hair, that it takes her a long time to cut and style, and that is why she can't tell me upfront how much to charge me. All I asked was to trim my hair a few inches, keep the same style from previous hair cut, not much thing changes, and the style is just to blow dry my hair, simple and easy, but Lucy kept talking as if it was "work of art", all the talk in preparation for an over charge, 65$ for a hair cut, trimming. And while she was styling my hair, she pulled really hard in one section, it really hurt, I told her, guess what she said "no pain no gain". Would you go to some one like that to get your hair cut? Un-professional, disrespectful, inconsiderate, conniving. I ended up , as a courtesy, gave her 5$tip, but I felt so wronged, feeling taken advantage of. Lucy was someone my coworker knows and recommended, if this was not the case, I would have walked out the door the minute she dropped my phone, while taking photo of my hair, and insisted on taking my photo with her phone, although I told repeatedly i'm Not comfortable with having my photos taken with her phone, not respecting my privacy at all, and disregarding my request. Overall, horrrible experience. My haircut is ok, not the work of art as mentioned. Lucy taught me a lesson once again, to NEVER trust anyone, especially who prides herself too much. So WRONG.

Lucy is a very passionate hairstylist. She exceeded my expectations by cutting my hair into very detailed layers and taking off the exact amount of length that I told her to (3 inches). If you're looking for layers that actually look like layers, Lucy is the stylist you should go to!!
