Kristen's Salon in Bakersfield, CA

I've been coming to Kristen for a little over a year maybe close to 2 years . I brought my daughters and my mom to her for hair cuts and trims. She was always friendly and made me feel comfortable and enjoyed getting my hair done again for once. Well in January I came in wanting to get some highlights because for the last 2 years I've been trying to grow the black out of my hair and have been dying it dark brown and my hair is medium brown . I told her my goals from the moment I started seeing her and she always told me she could help with my goals . So i was finally ready for a change. Our consultation was about a hour long as she seemed like she didn't want to do my hair. Even insulted me by telling me maybe I should wait til I'm in a better financial situation. Even though I never expressed to her any financial problems. I had 300 dollars to spend on my hair and she didn't even know it. She didn't seem like she wanted to do my hair but I told her how I've been wanting this and I have the money to spend. She told me she could give me a Even medium brown hair color for the highlights. I also told her my hair fries easily. Throughout the whole time she complained about how my generation isn't loyal and if people got there hair done more often she could get a raise and make more money . Even though i was sitting there willing to drop 300 on my hair. It was pretty rude but I just figured she must be struggling with keeping clients and I kinda felt for her cuz I know being in the beauty Industry has its ups and downs. When it was time to wash the bleach out she was telling another girl that worked there. My hair was red orange and yellow (as expected when someone has black/dark brown hair.) She seemed a little panicked. And the girl gave her a toner for my hair she put it on and then didn't even want to blow dry my hair which was weird cuz every time I have ever came in ,she styles our hair at the end . So I could tell right away my hair was fried. I asked her what I could put on it to help with the hair cuz my hair is fried. She said it isn't but could barely brush through my hair. I paid 125 plus tip and left with fried hair. I was excited at first cuz my hair finally didn't look black anymore, but man I didn't realize what was to come and how bad the damage was. To this day I can still barely brush through my hair without tangles and matting after I wash it. 25 % of my hair has fallen out. my hair was past my bra but she cut like 3 or 4 inches off to cover up that my hair got fried. I'm so depressed about my hair and it looks and feels horrible. I've been doing a mixture of castor oil, coconut oil and rosemary oil to help with new growth and to seal the hair follicles a bit. I ended up having to dye it a dark semi brown so I'm back to the same color and out the money and the hair I've taken years to grow out is ruined. I will never go back here again and Maybe if she would of taken me seriously she could of made the 300 dollars and had a customer for life. Along with everyone else I could of sent her way.

Kristen herself answered the phone I told her that I had black hair and that the black was bleached so now I have brownish hair, she told me to send her pics of what I wanted and the time was 9:00am in the morning when we were exchanging this information, she then replied back it would take too much time, I honestly don't think someone should ever tell a client or refuse service because of time... messages below.

I followed BAN here from another salon. What an upgrade for all the SpecialFX ladies. I'm so glad they moved locations! Seems like they finally have a caring owner who takes pride in her salon and staff!

Ban does an amazing job! I've been with her since for 10+ years! She's has don't my cuts, color, bleaching, she is just the best! And to mention, She is one of the nicest women I've met. I Highly recommend her!
