Why don't people review salons? Anyway, I paid $20 for a shampoo cut & blow dry. That's a steal where I come from. It is exactly what I asked for and Eileen is very methodical. There is a lot of math to getting a haircut right and I really felt comfortable with her meticulous style. The reason I can't give more stars has nothing to do with the stylist. This is a very informal place. I wasn't sure which door to use, where the parking spots were or even if I ought to stay. The staff (other than my stylist) looked as though they were headed to a picnic and the salon was sloppy, claustrophobic and antiquated. This place needs a facelift, maybe an entire redesign. But the least appealing aspect of the experience was just how loud the other stylists were. Uncomfortable.
I went here once, and that was one time too many unfortunately. I was looking to get highlights for the first time, but my previous dye job was red, and fading so I knew it was most likely going to need to be striped first anyway. We got there fairly early in the day, 10 or 11, and the woman I saw (who I will not name) said it should be a few hours tops, but yes we would have to strip the hair...no big deal, I expected it. So far, so good. I watched this hair stylist work on a variety of older women while my hair processed here and there with whatever procedure we would be up to and for those women, they came out with a great blow out and cut - so there is potential here for the woman who is looking to go in for a weekly hair appointment as many of these women did with her. After I finished processing she got me all washed out and did my cut. I do not know what kind of butchery she was performing on my hair, as this was no experience I have ever felt before. But however she was going about layering my hair physically brought tears to my eyes it was that painful. I have never had a problem like this before, and it wasn't that my hair had knots that needed to be worked out after all the chemical work - I just have no idea what she was doing! Well after this torture was finished, she blow dried my hair and showed me the finished product and asked me how I liked my highlights. Well.......I couldn't tell there were any highlights in my hair at all. Then she gave me the mirror and told me to step outside because she tried to keep them subtle and natural so you could only really see it in the natural light....ok........ So, I followed her and went outside to check it out......I still can't see these wonderful highlights she was raving about. Well apparently we were looking at 2 different sets of hair because she thought it looked wonderful, and me - not so much. She had asked me if I liked it and I said I didn't really care for it because I couldn't even tell it was highlighted....clearly she was choosing to ignore my response because there was nothing said back to me regarding this. Well, it was now 4pm....I had wasted my entire day there and getting this unnoticeable hair job cost over $150 when all was said and done between the "highlights", striping the old color and haircut, and whatever else she did to me that day. I have had my hair highlighted since having it done here, and it while it still has looked subtle and natural - at least you could tell I did it at all. I mean really, if I wanted my hair to look the same as it always does and have no one be able to tell I highlighted it - I would just not spend my money, leave my hair as is, and tell people I had it high-lighted, cause that's basically how this went. Maybe she does a great job, maybe it was an off day, maybe you could say a lot of things about this horrendous experience I had here - but there were too many things that went wrong, and no acknowledgement on her part when I voiced that I clearly did not like the outcome of a hair style I ended up paying a lot of money for.
I love Dawn Forenzo's Minx nails. Minx nails are a pattern printed on foil that is shrink-wrapped to your toe nails. Dawn also does a shellac manicure using shellac nail polish that is harder, stronger, and more resistant to peeling and chipping than any other polish. Judy's also offers feather hair extensions and I hear will soon be offering eye lash extensions and crybaby semi-permanent mascara. This place has the edge on all of the newest trends in beauty services.
