J Windeler's Salon in Covington, KY

My haircut was given by David and I really liked my cut and enjoyed my experience. I was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I scheduled with him. He was a vast experience of cutting hair and left me with something I liked. The price was also VERY reasonable. He spent 2 hours on my hair, including washing and blow-drying my hair, and charged me $30. The salon itself is not updated and very plain. I don't mind this as long as I like my hair cut. I would ask for David directly since I can only recommend based on his skills.

Do Not Go Here!  My grandmother scheduled me an appointment with their hair colorist Tia and when we arrived for the appointment they said that we have never set it up even though we were told to be there at 2pm on Saturday by Tia herself. If a stylist gives you a time to be there that is an appointment.  Then Tia tried to act like it was for a different day and when she couldn't find us on a different day in the salons calendar she said we were suppose to call back and confirm.  I have never had to call back to confirm at a salon that says be here at 2pm.  Tia was VERY rude to my grandmother and said that it was our fault.  I will never give my business to a company that blames its customers for its lack of organization.  DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

I went to jd windelers to get my hair cut and highlights and would not recommend it to anyone!!!! She's cheap for a reason!!  The entire time she did my hair, two hours, she hardly spoke a word to me.  Another customer said she seemed quiet and upset but she ignored us even so.  I asked for red and blonde highlights and Judy put barely any blonde into it at all.  She also cut it SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than I asked for.  I kindly told her when all was done that I wanted my hair to have more blonde in it and that I was unhappy with how short my hair was.  I wanted to cry because she chopped it all off and I felt like I looked like a boy!  I asked if there was anything she could do to at least lighten it and she told me I would have to make an appt and pay if I wanted her to fix anything.  We went back and forth for a few minutes and she took me outside insisting that the light would make it look better.  I still couldn't see any blonde in my hair!!  I told her it wasn't what I wanted and showed her the picture again and she replied, "it's what you want, trust me.  You just don't know it yet."  Now I have a hideous cut and color.  She left me standing on the sidewalk, no apology and refusing to do anything to fix HER awful work.  She was rude And insistent that she knew what I wanted more than I did.  When I got home, my husband said, "I thought you were getting it highlighted?"   Because she'd done that little of highlight in my hair and he couldn't see it.  She's despicable with business and Untalented in career.  Don't go and see her unless you need to lower your esteem a notch.

I've been visiting J. Windeler's Salon since I was a kid, and as long as I'm in Cincinnati, I'll continue to get my hair cut at J. Windeler's.

Judy, the owner and primary Master Stylist, is great. She's got a sharp sense of style and is willing to work with whatever cut you request. Hand her a photo and she can recreate it. She's been through it all with me; she styled my hair for all my formal dances in high school, chopped off my long locks into a pixie cut when I went to college and dyed my hair hot pink when I rebelled against my office at my first "grown up" job.

Besides that, she's one of the sweetest women I've ever met and will do whatever it takes to make sure you leave her salon happy.

Her clientele ranges from children to senior citizens, and I assume most of her clients come by word-of-mouth. The salon is somewhat no-frills - Judy still takes appointment by pen and paper, and there's no website to speak of.  Though it seems antiquated, there's something comforting about how low-key she keeps the salon. And her clients seem just as loyal without all the bells and whistles of a modern day salon.
