I came in not knowing what I wanted. My hair was long and a bit messed up & I needed something new. After a consultation with Angelica. I got one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten! Highly recommend checking out J.Brandon's

This place is absolutely terrible been here about 5 times and every time it has been average bug this last time it was horrible the stylist would not listen to me and gave me the wrong haircut. It looks terrible would not recommend going here.

Hands down the best hair salon I have ever been to in Austin. They are so talented and kind! I have never felt so comfortable right away. I love how they know what styles and colors will look good on you and easily guide you through. I have recommended this salon to all of my friends and family. I have never had so many compliments about my hair until now! Thank you ladies I will most definitely be returning!!!

I am so grateful to have found Angelica and the other wonderful women who work there! Angelica has saved me several times now after I've had a fit and tried to fix my own hair! She's the very first person to realize how much my hair poofs in places I don't want it to, no matter how lovely it looks when first straightened, and she really gets my part grey, part mousy blonde, part blonde color And how to make it the right shade. She thinned the back beautifully, and I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair as I did after my Keratin Treatment...worth every penny and more!!!! Thank you, Angelica!!!

Short version- J Brandon performed several services that I specifically asked they not do. I originally came to J Brandon in April of 2022 and asked for my hair to be bleached from dark brown to platinum blonde- something that I have had done several times previously at other salons. Anjelica claimed it would be better to do highlights and then progressively lighten my hair over the coming months. I reiterated that previously when I had bleached my hair, they had done an all over single color and not hightlights. She insisted it would be better. I agreed as long as she didn't tone my hair a weird orangey brown color. Unsurprisingly, her assistant highlighted and then toned my hair orangey brown. I spent the next several months trying to find a salon to color correct what she had done, but was repeatedly advised to go back to J Brandon. I finally did in November and asked again for platinum blonde. Anjelica said it would be difficult because of the previous highlights- which she had done. I told her to go ahead and try. Her assistant did an all over bleach and Anjelica asked if I was happy. I told her we were moving in the right direction. I came back in Dec to touch up the roots and then in Jan she asked if I was happy with the color. I told her that I did not like the stains left from the previous highlighting but also that I didn't think it could be bleached anymore without melting my hair. I told her it would have to grow out. She initially agreed that additional bleaching would melt my hair but then told me she thought it would be fine. She handed me over to her assistant who bleached the roots, then proceeded to bleach the rest of my hair, toned my hair beige then cut my hair in layers and straightened my hair- something that I have specifically and repeatedly told both Anjelica and her assistant at every appt that I do not want done. Anjelica asked if I was happy and I told her I would be back in Feb. Three days later, approximately half of my shoulder length hair broke off at about 1/2" length. I came back and showed Anjelica and initially her eyes got really big and she said "Wow", then said it was hardly noticeable. I told her it was extremely noticeable as it was the entire front and right side of my head and it needed to be cut. She then agreed that they would have to cut a lot off and I would end up with a pixie cut. I said fine. Admittedly here I am not sure who initially brought up dying my hair another color, but Anjelica said now would be a great time to dye my hair another color. I said my hair would not take up another color since it was fried. She insisted it was the best time and asked what color. I said light blue or light purple and showed her pictures of light blue hair. Somehow she settled on purple and sent an assistant to go out and buy purple dye. Her assistant cut my hair and dyed it purple. Not light purple- dark, dark purple. Anjelica asked if I loved my hair and I told her it was better than it was when I came in. She asked if she could take pictures. I told her if she really wanted to. Two days later all the dye washed out of my hair and I was left with patchy dark purple, light blue, light green and yellow hair, which was continuing to break off in handfuls. I came back and showed Anjelica and got another "Wow! Your hair!" She said they could re-dye it. I told her it was not fixable. I had already been to other stylists (one of whom started to cry when I took my hat off) and had been advised to consider shaving my head and buying a wig. Anjelica continued to repeat that they could re-dye it and they wouldn't charge. I continued to repeat that my hair could not be re-dyed, and that what she had done to my hair was not fixable. Anjelica claims that I knew there was a risk of breakage with bleaching and I absolutely know that. Which is why I specifically told her in Jan that I didn't think she should bleach my hair. She also says that I always left happy because I left a tip. I never once told her I was happy with my hair and I tip everyone, regardless of the quality of service. In the 8 years that I have been going to J Brandon, I have never left happy, but they weren't terrible and it would require more effort than I wanted to put in to finding a new hair stylist after my last one moved to Connecticut. Nothing like a chemical buzz cut to motivate.
