Charges $70 per hour and it's not like they work very fast; more overpriced than most braiders. Wouldn't recommend if you don't want to spend $300+ for a hairstyle

I am a white parent of a 5 year-old biracial foster daughter, and having her hair braided was a new experience for both of us. Kandi was patient, kind, and amazing at her craft. She gave me tips along the way, and was very gentle as she washed, detangled, trimmed, blew dry and braided my little one's hair. Not only does her hair look amazing, but our mornings are more peaceful now that she doesn't have to sit through my attempts at hairstyling. Kandi's website is so clear and easy to use, and I appreciate the explanation of services and transparent pricing. Her safety precautions during COVID were also appreciated (she took our temperature upon entering, we were all masked the whole time, and there were a limited number of people in the salon). Highly recommended - we'll definitely be going back!

I should have listened to that review dated below - 8-22-2019. I called to make an appointment at the shop. I told the person who I believed the be the owner that I wear a unit/wig. What I needed was to wash and braid my hair that is under, and wash the unit. The owner was a bit rough talking over the phone but I was going out of town and I needed a wash before I leave. The owner told me that it would take about 25 minutes to braid the hair that is going under a unit and put the unit bag on. It did take about 25 minutes to braid my natural hair and they wash the unit. She charged me $80 for that. Wait till you hear that one, after they washed the unit, I asked them to use a flat iron to style it, the person who braided my hair told she only braid hair. The owner then said that if she do it she would be here all night....what...what stylist charges $80 and spend 25 minutes braid your natural hair and can not style a short shoulder length unit with a curling iron. Style Seat is showing these people how to overcharge for their services and also need to teach them more customer service skills. One good thing about the salon, they took your temperature when everyone comes in the salon, they leave the window open for air circulation in light of Covid and they have hand sanitizer at the entrance of the salon that everyone has to use and everyone has to wear masks. I felt a bit more comfortable going in due to COVID. After a few hours, the hairstylist who did my hair braided it so tight, so I undo the whole thing so I can sleep tonight.

I have been going to iKandi Salon for over 5 years. I think the salon a hidden jewel of Evanston and Kandi the owner is simply fabulous. Many of my professional friends go to iKandi for their haircare and styles. What I love about the salon is that they not only cater to relaxed hair or chemically treated hair but they do natural hair styles and locs and braids. I wear natural hair and iKandi has helped me maintain my natural hair and turned out some great styles on me that I wear into my corporate and casual life. I've gotten faux locs, twists, and weaves done at iKandi and I've never been disappointed with any of the work. Also, because many of the clients have diverse schedules the salon has wide ranges of hours to come in and get your hair done. I've been during the week, after work, and after church. The scheduling is nice too because they send you text reminders of your appointment. I recommend iKandi to all my naturalista hair friends and my friends with relaxers. I definitely recommend iKandi. Update: iKandi is open and has precautions in place to have a safe beauty experience. There are temperature checks and hand sanitizer before sitting in the chair. Also, you must wear a mask. There are sneeze guards at the sinks and no in shop waiting to keep the number of people in the salon to a minimum. The stylists wear masks. I'm still very pleased with the work iKandi turns out and definitely recommend the shop.

I took my daughter to see Kandi for a haircut. She was excellent. This is the only salon I will ever take my daughter too. Kandi made us feel welcome and answered all of my hair care questions. She even showed me how to do a quick and easy hairstyle for busy mornings. We are definitely going back.
