Breaking news! This salon is incredibly clean, organized, polished and smells amazing since the Aveda product line is used. I surprised my mom for her 60th birthday with a fresh haircut. Her stylist, Laura did a thorough consultation and made excellent recommendations. My mom said she felt so relaxed and almost fell asleep while her scalp was being massaged and hair conditioned. Laura was extremely down to earth, sweet and educated my mom on the best techniques to give herself a proper blowout. Laura has been styling hair for over 20 years, primarily on the east coast and now Hilo is lucky to have her style and grace. Overall my mom and family love her new haircut and she's become more confident. Thank you, Laura! My mom will absolutely return for her hair trims.  ‍

I feel so blessed and grateful to have been guided to this wonderful Salon! I moved from Kona to the Hilo side after 15 years and synchronicity guided me to Headline News!! Laura is a hair color specialist, trained by the very best Aveda hair stylists in Los Angeles. She "got" what I needed after 2 years of "Covid" hair, grey, dull and depleted. I didn't expect such a professional and perfect outcome, I feel renewed and am extremely pleased. Highly recommended!!!

I went to Headline News for the first time and I had a GREAT experience!

Julia started my appointment with a scalp massage and I was instantly drooling. I've been to salons all over the mainland and had never had a scalp massage before a haircut -- it was soothing and relaxing and I felt super pampered!

Before my cut, Julia took the time to really consider the pictures I brought of haircuts I liked, and she offered suggestions that would make the cut really work for me and my lifestyle (which is literally zero maintenance other than shampooing/conditioning/combing and air drying my hair). That's an aspect I find valuable because I've had my fair share of cuts that look great in the salon post-blowout, only to find that my hair won't cooperate at all when air dried.

My hair looked and felt fabulous after Julia cut, dried, and curled it.. but better yet, it looks great every day now -- even when I go to bed with it wet and rock the air-dried style the next day! Thanks for working your magic, Julia!

I have been coming here for hair styling and coloring for several years now.  I have found the people very friendly and professional, willing to listen to my ideas and helping me to bring my hair fantasies to life.  I really enjoy going there and intend to continue to patronized them.

Patti cuts my hair - she does a great job at understanding my hair and my lifestyle (i.e., she doesn't flip out when I admit that I never style it, I wear it up all of the time, I am outdoors constantly etc).  My hair is CURLY which is not easy but she nails it every time.  I have tried several other salons in Hilo what were not as good, so I am so happy I found this little place!
